Roy Disney Resigns from Disney baord of directors

How sad.

Still, it's nice to read his resignation letter. All the sentiments of my fellow cast members and I are addressed there. In fact, many of my friends have handed in similar letters when they've quit.

I hired into Disney in 1987. For my entire stay there (until last year) I've felt how the company seemed to be headed downhill. But in the back of my mind, I always wondered if it was just me; like if it just felt that the company was going downhill because I was getting tired/bored with my job. Still, that might have played a part with my thoughts...

But that part about bad company morale is so dead on. All that sh*t starts at the top and trickles down. Managers get sh*t from their managers and give sh*t to their underlings, and on and on it goes, until it even reaches the guests...

I should say, however, that my last couple of years there, the morale wasn't as bad as it had been. I think we got rid of some bad managers or something (or maybe it was just Tomorrowland that lucked-out).

I always thought Eisner should have retired when he had that quadruple bypass operation. Perfect time for the company's health as well as his own. How much more money does the guy need to siphon out of the company???

I always liked Roy and this letter really puts that in perspective.

I thought there would be something on the cast portal, like when
Cynthia "quit" but there hasn't be any mention. They were quick to put
her letter of resignation and Eisners letter in respose but so far there is
nothing about Disney. This also makes me wonder about the direction of
the company now that we are at the mercy of someone with a " I'm the
King of the World" complex. Maybe we were before but with Roy still
there it felt like the Disney family still had some control. Now it's kinda
adrift.

I think it's because it was so sudden, and it was on a Sunday. Roy and
Stan released their statements directly to the press. I doubt Cynthia
did. So I don't think Eisner had enough time or didn't want to rush out a
hastily written response. I'm sure Eisner will release something saying
he's saddened by Roy's resignation and shocked at the allegations, and
how everything must have been a great misunderstanding and all... Or
maybe he's trying to work out some kind of deal which will result in Roy
staying on and releasing an "I made a mistake" memo.

If that works, we should have Michael get the Palestinians and Israelis to
admit that they've forgotten what it was they were arguing about. Then
Pakistan and India. Then Northern Ireland. Then Congress....

Sorry, that last was silly. Won't happen again.

Roy nailed it when he wrote about the company losing it's direction after 1994. That is a key turning point for D-land.

It's an F'n shame. I would be worried about massive resignations if I was Eisner.
