i just have to share what happened to us today........

Setting: 50s Prime Time
Date: March 25, 2007
Time: 3:00 PM

2 Yuenglings at the bar........... then we are seated.. and who is our waiter? The same guy from last year. Guess what? He remembered us! It's not just because crazy Uncle Andy is here... he wasn't with us last year... I think it's Kevin. He remembered that I was Kevin's mom and Gayle was Kevin's aid etc. etc.. (are we that obnoxious? )

Our waiter - Richard - says about Kevin, "He had a different wheelchair last year, didn't he?" And we are all very happy to recognize each other and proceed to make merry.

We are sitting by a door that leads backstage. Richard suddenly opens the door and leads in 4 of the prettiest girls I've seen - - they are dressed in some kind of parade costumes - belly dancing type stuff....

They proceed to fawn over Kevin, pose for pics and ask if they can each give him a kiss. Did I cry?

Yeah, you bet I did.

Kevin is 16 - and he knew darn good and well what a lucky guy HE was!!!! He smiled big time at those girls, I promise you! Who needs Dreams when you have magic???? :D:

Wow, it really is a small world after all. The same thing happened to me and my family in Las Vegas last summer. This one "server" at a restaurant remembered us and was happy to see us again.

I would like to continue this happy thread by sharing one of my great stories. Today was my day off from Star Tours. I decided to chill at Disney MGM Studios and surprisingly, I met the COO/CFO of Medpoint Communications, Inc. He was with his wife and two children, a son and daughter. I rode with them on Rockin Roller Coaster and Star Tours. It was so much fun and I certainly felt the Disney magic there. By the way, I was wearing two lanyards, one with crappy pins and the other one was all Stitch pins. That's what attracted the eyes of the CFO's son. They thanked me for hanging out with them and talking to them more about Disney - even stuff that "guests" shouldn't know (ex: Mickey Mouse is played by a woman most of the time). I

I also spent the day with another family of four - this time, two sons, a father and mother. We played the Hidden Mickey game at Tower of Terror and Rockin Roller Coaster. Luckily, we found most of them. They were also thankful that I stood by them and told them more about Disney.

Today proved the power of Disney magic and its capabilities when used the right way. Being a Cast Member is a 24/7 job. The only difference is the absense of the absent minded, brainless, and cranky guest when you're not on stage.

Anywhere is "The place to be" as long as you make the best out of it. In my case, I'm glad I went to MGM. Even if I'm not in costume or on-stage, guests never cease to ask me questions about the park (restrooms, nearest smoking areas, restaurants, etc.) even if I'm wearing normal, everyday clothes. It as if I give out this "I'm a Cast Member aura" whenever I'm on Disney property.

Alex, the six year old birthday boy, continues to live in my memory. All I know is that he lives somewhere on the East Coast. I forgot where specifically although he did tell me when he was down here. I just hope that he knows how thankful I am to have made his birthday happier. I also hope he remembers me because I will never forget him - the best guest I have ever served. Nobody has ever topped that experience or tied with it.
