Anyone else have any stories where you have been told that you're memories are faulty while the guest's are crystal clear?
My favorite was the woman who wanted to know when we had moved the Peter Pan attraction. She insisted that when she had visited as a child it had been where Pooh is now. No amount of information would convince her otherwise, including an original park map at City Hall that showed it right where it still is.
I understand how someone can get corrupted memories, I've certainly believed in memories that turned out to be wrong. But to persist in the face of hard evidence just makes me want to...

My wife is convinced that they have moved the drops in POTC. Never mind that they would have to tear out the basement, rebuild the entire attraction, etc. She cannot be convinced that her memory is incorrect.

Oh yea... I love guests that get upset about you "lying" to them, or not knowing the right answer, even when you are right and they are wrong. I don't have a problem with it, until they start insisting that they're right, and just won't let it go. Last week I had someone ask me about the electrical parade, and I told them it was actually in DCA. But no, they were there last week, and it was in DL, we must have just moved it...
God must love stupid people. He made so many of them.

I've gotten asked a couple of times about the log ride that takes you through a lumber mill (also actually at KBF). Worst part is since I'm a young guy, older people especially will just say "oh you're just too young to remember."
The other one I get a lot is "you guys had double strollers when we came last year." I've been working for over 3 years and the only time we had double strollers in that time was for a very short test run about 3 years ago.

Rejoice that you don't. We've got doubles at all the WDW parks and they are a major menace. I've seen folks that pile three adults and two kids in the seat, with 50# of junk on the top, then wonder why the wheels won't turn.

This has been a running joke with me, my family, and my friends since I worked in the park 10 years ago. I can't count the number of people who came up to me after going on Pirates and asked, "Why did they change it?" It got to a point where it was easier to say, "Disney likes to do that every few years." rather than ask what they mean and then get into the whole argument thing over what has changed and what hasn't. By the way, this is before they DID change it to take away the female-chasing pirates and show them as food-chasing pirates(PC stupidity).
Guest: "What's that pile of bird crap lookin' thing in the middle of the park?"
Me: "Uh, that would be the Matterhorn."

Righthander,
I can honestly say that every time I think of Pirates, I think of you and that quote!
So, why
did they change it? :?:

I had an older guest who got all pissed off that the monorail didn't stop at the main gate anymore. Obviously he was thinking of WDW. And like these other people you guys mention, he didn't let it go. He kept insisting that the monorail used to stop at the main gate when it was first built. I told him when it was first built, it didn't even leave the park, and that they added the hotel extension a few years later. I don't know how the conversation ended. I'm sure I wanted to say something like "...whatever..." but that usually got people angrier. I think I said, "Hmmm, I don't know" which probably didn't make much sense, but gives the conversation a sense of finality (is that a word?)...
Also helps by pretending to get distracted by something else and slowly walking away. That was always a favorite of mine...

Working at the DTD ticket booth I used to get a lot of guests who tried to tell me that the monorail used to run to the hotel. Of course, it did, but only because the hotel grounds used to extend out to the monorail. That doesn't satisfy people, though. They seem convinced it ran right into Marina tower lobby or something. The only way I found to get people to shut up about it was to tell them (truthfully) that I personally saw the platform being converted to the new design. They can't tell me I'm too young to remember if I saw it happen ;)
