Heelies

Post by Main_Street_Merch » Fri Jan 12, 2007 5:53 pm

Ok, I felt this horrible invention needed it's own thread. I HATE these stupid things. The kids are rude, skating on everything and crashing into everyone. At DAK I have had 3 situations with parents that threw a fit and wanted to "sue" over the fact that their kid ate it after rolling right over a drain grate or themed dirt crack. I tell every child I see skating that they aren't allowed to skate in the park and to put the wheels up. Seriously, these kids are going to be deformed later in life because they won't know how to walk.

:duh:

I think there already *is* a Heelies thread, but what the hey. I hate those things as well. Heard some kid went down face first at DCA last week due to: Heelies+not paying attention=Jr. SG.

I have come up with my own way to deal with those little darlings on heelies. I walk in front of them and make them crash into me. Yes, I know it is a mean horrid thing I do, but someone has to do it. So, when you see a middle aged, Pooh sized woman doing this SGT, you will know it is me.

Anyone know what the official WDW view on these awful things is? We actually get kids on the IN the restaurant. Yeah. Heelies, big heavy trays, tired waitstaff carrying 3 foot long skewers..... those are definately things that should coexist peacefully. I'd love to be able to gently inform these kids that they aren't supposed to be wearing them.

Someone on a board-which-will-not-be-named wrote in to ask, since their little "angel" wanted to wear them. Disney said that roller shoes of any kind were not allowed.

Later, same SG said since there was no sign stating this at the turnstiles that SG Jr. would be able to wear them.

Of course, if the sign was there, they probably wouldn't read it anyway.

My sister is an Pediatric ER nurse. She told me if I bought those for my kids, she would beat me with them. (the shoes, not the kids, hehe)

After getting a bloody nose at a school concert from being plowed into by a lovely child in Heely's, I would rather spoon out my own spleen than fork over money for those stupid things.

Honestly, who thinks Heely's are okay worn with dress clothes and a tie at a Christmas concert??? The kid was in chorus...he could have killed himself on the risers. They are not allowed in school during the day, so genius mom thought that was better?? UGH!

I am boarding the Wonder in the morning. If I see Heely's, I may just lose it.

Not sure about WDW, but DL's official view (albeit never enforced by the majority of cast members) is that they are strictly NOT allowed in the park.

Yes, the official view at WDW is that they are not allowed either. But as you said, no cm's seem to enforce it.
But I can totally understand why. These parents that allow their kids to wear them aren't exactly the cream of the parental crop. I am tired of being berated over it.
I say let junior roll off and hurt himself or someone else, hear the lawsuit roar and then maybe management will help us enforce some of these rules. Or maybe not.

I hate to say it, Steph, but you will see Heelies out in force, both in the terminal and on the ship. The terminal is CROWDED and yet the SG Jrs. think it's a riot to weave in and out of people, objects, etc. like crazed, rabid, out-of-control animals. And on the ship, they love to terrorize people on the wood floors of the deck 3 atrium, always at the most crowded times. God, I'd love to clothesline those little suckers as they come by me!!

We should confiscate wheels at the entrance. Take names and have them available for pickup upon exit.
