Year of a million dreams SGT?

Post by Marilou » Tue Jan 09, 2007 9:41 am

Hi all
Quickly saying Muchas Gracias for all you do. Was just wondering how YOAMD is going on your end? Are you seeing anything qualifying as SGT in that area? Is it a nightmare situation for the CM's or do you hardly notice it going on? People on another board are of course talking it to death...pisses me off tho, the ones that complain they didn't win any "dreams"...that YOAMD is all just hype. Christ! can't they just be thankfull they have the means to enjoy all that WDW and you fab CMs have to offer??

I am intersted in this topic as well. Is it a hassle for the CMs? What do the CMs look for when they pick a family? In October we got chosen for some sort of Magical Moments three times (which we were very grateful). I have a 12 yr old son that (seriously) looks like Brad Pitt. I have a feeling that is why we got picked three times!

Well, everything is selected at random so you guys may have been lucky. (I wish I would have had that kind of luck)
But I have been hearing of a lot of people turning down FPs and free nick-nacks thinking it is some sort of sales pitch for DVC or something. After a much heated debate, they leave only to have the gift swept up by an all-knowing and selfish AP.

"No. Walt Disney, maybe, but that's about it."

It's a pain in the ass for me (because of personal reasons).

Also, all I see is the dream squad not doing shit except wasting time, standing around and talking to each other onstage.

That, and they take away from MY personal magical moments. If I get a little princess onto cindy's horse, its not special anymore because they do that magical moment every hour (though its not dreamsquad, its dream MAKERs)

Dream makers are worse than dreamsquad. We're pretty shortstaffed as is and with dream makers being taken out of rotation, the rest of us suffer. We have to take time out of loading, put guests in front of others, and all that crap which kills our OHRC. See other thread "Year of a Million Problems" for more of my rantings on this.

In F-land we have both dreamSQUAD and dream MAKERs. dreamsquad does all the prize giveaways, brings guests into small world tower to wave, and brings guests onto Pan via the exit. Dream makers are regular attractions CMs that have gotten additional "training" (read this, understand? sign here). They are taken out of rotation and put into a dream maker rotation, making 4 magical moments an hour at carrousel, teacups, philharmagic, and one other I cant remember at the moment-- that dreamsquad doesn't do.

It involves speiling, creating a scene, and giving a magical moments certificate. When their not making magical moments, they have a lot of downtime.

All I see here is sour grapes. Every dream squad member I have seen has been, if not giving out prizes, on stage, interacting with the guests and their children. They have not been taking away from the other cast members as you imply. All areas are supposed to perform magical moments at least once / hour if they can. Don't really understand what your issue is. The guests like what ALL cast members are doing. We are just getting back to what Walt envisioned when Disneyland was first opened.

Stepping down off the soap box and returning it to its corner. :D:

I see them standing around onstage talking to each other all the time. Very rarely talking to guests (at least at DL).

They are taking away from me (I don't care to explain how so don't ask but it's the truth)... not sour grapes.

I think most guests are excited about it. I haven't told my kids about it at all on the off chance it happens to them. I want them to be truly surprised. In fact, I'm going to try to forget about it too.

Personally - I'll just be happy to be at WDW - that's my dream and I"m lucky enough to live it every 18 mos or so.
