That's FUNNY. You should have posted this under "Greatest WTF Moments".
Years ago ,while at work, some gal is yacking away on her phone. The customer next to her must have been talking too loud for her taste. She turns to this guy and barks "Do you mind,I'M the phone". He looked her square in the eye and said "Fuck you, take it out side". :D:

I believe what a lot of people FORGET when they are on Disney property is that they are NOT the only ones in the park. Many people have saved for YEARS to go and enjoy the sights and sounds the parks have to offer. They do NOT go there so they can hear someone talking business on the phone while they are trying to watch a show.

I try to understand that some people can never seem to escape their jobs. But it seems to me ALOT of those people feel that they are the only ones who are important. They don't take into consideration the feelings of the people near them or with them. That was my biggest complaint when starting this thread. Disney is a very loud place. So people seem to feel the need to scream into their phones. My last visit i encountered so many cell phone users it truly bothered me that people would stop DEAD in the middle of a walkway to answer a call, the sad look on soooo many kids faces while their parents yaked away, the people who feel the need to speak (yell) on the phone while watching a demonstration and describing everything to the person they are speaking to and last but not least those who cannot walk and speak on the phone at the same time and plow into people and things.

The reason you need to use your cell phone can vary, it is the courtesy you show the other guests and employees which is desperately needed.

Oh, and believe me, no one is that important that the entire world would come to a complete stop if they did not have a cell phone strapped to their belt in a queue line in WDW or DL. If you believe that, I have some cheap land for sale in Florida and a bridge in New York you might be interested in.

Let me make this clear agian. My mother and I WORK FOR THE SAME COMPANY. Normally, only ONE OF US CAN BE OFF AT A TIME. For us to BOTH GO, WE HAVE TO CARRY A CELLPHONE.

No Cellphone=No Vacation.

Yeah, I can take a week off and go anyplace I want, same with her. We just can't go at the same time without the cellphone.

However, since you do claim to be *that* indispensable, my sympathies. Your undivided attention and presence will most likely be missed by those who can vacation undisturbed.

Oh, belive me, we're at Disney to have fun. :) Usually, there aren't many calls in from work. No more than 1 a day usually. Like I said, when the phone vibrates, we find someplace to sit down and deal with whatever it is, after we're out of the attraction. Nothing is so urgent that 1/2 hour to an hour will hurt it.

No BS. You call a coal mine and ask them how much it costs them when the longwall is down.

[quote="Zazu"]No, I've got to back up dhcalva on this one. I've seen quite a few small companies with low margins or tight contracts where $36k and hour would not be an unreasonable loss estimate.

As opposed to the interruptions cause by cell phones going off (or being talked into) at inappropriate times, it strikes me that dhcalva is one guest who has found a reasonable balance between the unavoidable demands of business and the pursuit of happiness.

Of course, if she forgets to put it on vibrate and it goes off in the middle of Mickey's Philharmagic, I'll gladly stuff her thru the same hole by which Donald exits.... ]If I forget and it goes off in Mickey's Philharmagic, I'll gladly stuff myself through the same hole by which Donald exits. :D:

BTW, for a real SG using a cellphone in Disney... How about the guy that was sitting in front of me last trip ON BIG THUNDER, trying to talk on a cellphone and take pictures while the ride was moving.

To be honest, I'm not exactly sure what it really is myself. I know it's a way of underground coal mining (as opposed to strip mining where they strip the earth above the coal away) I _think_ it's what holds up the ceiling while they mine the coal out around it, since they move the longwall from time to time. If for some reason, they can't mine where the longwall is, they loose a load of money. And that could be from a thing as simple as a hose being broken, an air compressor being broken, or something wrong with the conveyors.

BirdMom wrote:The inference is that some people feel they are too important to have to abide by social niceties that everyone should abide by in order to make everyone's experience more pleasant. It's good that you find a quiet spot away from the majority of guests, but I was brought up to believe that it's not polite to gloat about how much money one makes or how expensive one's toys are.

LOL!! This reminded me of the Budweiser "real men of genius" commercials; the "Mr. Really Loud cellphone talker guy" one to be exact... it ends something to the effect of "Nothing screams "I'm important", like screaming "I'M IMPORTANT" into a cell phone"

BTW: I have read this entire thread and totally agree with every post you've made on it birdmom; I just chuckled when I saw the one about the person feeling they were so important because I thought of that commercial.

p.s. Great board everyone! I have been reading it for a few days, but have not posted before. I actually found this when I was reading a "Disney" related board (probably filled with more SG's than any other area on the net) and was saying to myself "I wonder how the CM's deal with these morons". (Please don't ask me why I read that board, I guess for the same reason people watch train wrecks and auto accidents :eek :) Anywho, I googled Stupid Disney Guests and eventually ended up here, lol!! Great site and keep up the good work!!

And try to have a magical day (sorry for cussing like that Zazu, lol)

What sometimes drives me over the edge is those stupid Nextels. The idiots are always using it to show it off, not make a QUICK call.
Crrrrrk! Yeah, I'm in the next building
Crrrrrk! I'll walk over. (WTF?)

Or:
Crrrrk! I'm here.
Crrrrk! Okay.
Sheesh, can't you just use text messaging?

And then, there's the worst: the one who just has to carry on for like 40 minutes with the stupid walkie talkie line. WTF again? Why can't you have a normal cell phone conversation? I'm sooo sick of hearing that crrrrk, crrrrk every 20 seconds! I don't want to know about both sides of the conversation.
I don't get it. And those things are always operated at maximum volume. Believe me, they want the whole world to hear their conversation. From what I've seen, a majority of Nextel owners are gigantic attention whores.
