2.5 Jacks and a Jackass

Post by Zazu » Mon Jan 01, 2007 11:24 pm

This one's third hand, so put on your embellishment filters:

Pirates of the Caribbean now has 2-1/2 Jack Sparrows. Nice work, too. So nice, in fact, that Stupid Guests want to have their picture taken with him.

And so it was that a few weeks ago one "Darwin escapee" (thanks for that term) stepped out of his bateau in the Dunking scene with the intention of wading over to Jack, getting his photo taken, and wading back to his bateau. Nice plan!

His first step seemed promising, as the water isn't as deep as it looks. Unfortunately, with the karma owed to all SGs, his second step out of the boat was into one of the pump wells, where his foot was promptly sucked into the pump and stuck there as his family went merrily sailing off to the auction without him.

The Good News: The stupid guest was 6' 2" tall, and survived.
The Bad News: The stupid guest wasn't 6' 1" tall, and so didn't drown.

I'm thinking that using this system could eventually prove much more effective than intrusion mats.

Gotta put in deeper pump wells though. Breeding stupid guests for greater height isn't really gonna help much.

Great story, Zazu! :)

I have a story related to the old PoC: A couple of years after WDW opened, Mom & Dad took my brother and I to WDW and PoC. Although my brother and I were on the outer part of the boat, my Dad had the perfect scare tactic for making sure we kept our hands and arms inside of the boats.

He would tell us "Now make sure you keep your hands and arms inside the boat. You see those big wires on either side of the boat (the boat's guide rails)? They're electrified, and you wouldn't want to get electrocuted."

Thirty years later, I still don't think I've tested what Dad told me. ;)

I would have pointed him out to my kids: "Oh look honey! Captain Jack Sparrow...and an IDIOT! Don't they look real?" :)

hehe

"A little swordplay, now and then, keeps my mind off sheep!"

"You're messing with my Zen thing, man."

"Dreams are as portals,
flat visions of misty places,
fragments bound below my surface,
but I can write dreams,
they flow from me,
inscribed but now unbound,
I touch them,
and they are real,
and they are real."
