Camera Steppin'
My friend... who just got back from Disney World an hour ago told me that she was taking non-flash pictures at the voyage of the little mermaid and a CM told her to stop. When the CM left she stated taking pictures again and the CM came back, asked for her camera, took ot the film, and stepped on it. (He returned the camera though). Is Disney allowed to do that? I've never heard of it happening before...

That sound's pretty excessive to me. I think maybe the CM have a bad day, no? I have never heard of a CM stepping on film before. I guess if you were on one of those backstage tours, they could legally take your film or memory card, but non-flash on a regular ride. sounds like the Disney Goon squad  is at it again! Watch out for em. They will also ridicule your mouse ears and make you feel like a t-o-u-r-i-s-t!!!!!!!! :sparky:

Seriously... Wow.
What did your friend do? Did she report the castmember? That can't be ok.
Look, I am not insensitive to your friends loss of property, but why did your friend resume taking pictures if she was told to stop?
I think the CM was outta line. Ya don't break other people's stuff... But if they tell you not to do something... DON'T.

Look, I don't mean to cast suspicion on your friend, but is this friend being entirely straight with you? I deal with people and their flash cameras at the museum I work at and no matter how many times you tell people "no flash" some will go off because the individual doesn't know all the functions on their camera. Then they will get uppity and say it wasn't intentional or they just don't know how to shut it off. So my first thought would be that your friend possibly was indeed using the flash, albeit unintentionally (as the great t.v. Dr. House says, everyone lies). My second thought is that bit about stomping on the film sounds a teeny bit exaggerated. I believe the CM could get fired for not only taking the camera away, but in essence destroying someone's personal property. I can't think of any CM's past or present who would want to risk that over 2 minutes of one annoying or inconsiderate guest.
I'm not saying that there aren't CM's who won't lose it at some point with the wrong guest at the wrong time, it's just that this story has a slightly bogus sound to it. Forgive me if I'm wrong. Is there a Little Mermaid attraction in Florida now? I've heard about the new Nemo stuff at Disney Seas, just nothing about the Little Mermaid...

It's "Voyage of the Little Mermaid", a stage show at the Studios. Flash photography is a HUGE no-no in the theater because one of the first scenes is the "Under the Sea" musical number done entirely with blacklight puppets. The puppeteers are running around "invisibly" on-stage in all-black costumes operating the puppets. A flash can blind them and potentially cause a nasty accident.BirdMom wrote: Is there a Little Mermaid attraction in Florida now? (This is also the only attraction I know of where the spanish no-flash photography recorded spiel is of a couple talking to each other in Spanish about how stupid people who take flash pictures are... At least that's what it sounds like they're saying)
