Scrouge!
On Sunday, I was walking around the World of Disney shop at DL waiting for a friend. There were Marines outside the shop collecting toys for Toys for Tots and they were also accepting cash donations. I witnessed many people give geneorously. Except for one woman.
As I walked past her I heard her tell the Marine:"I'm not that generous, give me back a ten." She was handing him a twenty dollar bill. I don't know if the Marine gave her the change, I was too stunned.
I hope her day at DL was pure hell. She deserved nothing less.
I would have said something to her, but it's not in my nature to be spiteful.
Holidays really do bring out the worst in people.

She's probably the type who bargains someone down to an artificially low price at the swap meet and then expects to pay with a $100.

Re: Scrouge!
I'm sorry, but I would disagree.
Apparently she wanted to make a $10.00 contribution. There is nothing wrong with that.
Personally if I were in that situation I would have considered it tacky to have handled it that way. I would have gone to a store or any place with a cash register and asked them to break the $20. It is similar to when I am going to be using the services of a bellman or parking valet and I do not have any small bills; I will attempt beforehand to break the larger bill.

Wow...
I agree with Chesire, I have no problem with making a $10 donation. How much she wants to donate (if she donates at all) is her business.
However I do find asking for change back, well... Low. Ya... I think low is the word. Make the effort and get change.
And the comment... "I'm not that generous"... Ugh. C'mon have some class.
BTW... I'm guessing all of us are outraged by the same thing, not the size of the gift... but the manner in which it was given.

I'm with june1st,the 'manner' in which the gift was given is low bubget.
Last night when I was closing up the store I work at there was an empty box sitting on one of the sofas. It looked familiar.'Someone' had taken a toy out the "Toys for Tots" box at the front of the store, and 'helped' themselves to it contents.
How f-in low budget is that?
Well,I guess I get to go Alfies...again.Play the grab machine...again. :D:
Other than that, HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!

Hmmm, didn't Jeff Foxworthy once say, "If you've ever made change from the offering plate, you might be..." aw, you know the rest!

Re: Scrouge!
I just don't get the attiude of some folks around this time of year. And stealing from Toys For Tots?!?! Unacceptable.
Re: Scrouge!
I still don't quite understand how giving $10 is worse than giving nothing. Maybe that's all she could afford.
