june1st,I had to read your/everyone elses posts 3 times before commenting. First off,CONGRATS to your munchkin. I'm the oldest of 5, the father of 3, and grand-pa of 3. You have your work cut out for you. My view is if you brought this 'gentleman' up from nothing to where he is today, but 'he' could not give you a little me/our/us time then 'maybe' it was time to move on. PLEASE do not take me wrong (I may be) this 'person' sounds like a MF MF. This is from a high-school graduate, suds lovin,red-neck.
btw please stick around and give your insights about different threads. Hey they let me stay around this long.

Darph, How are ya...

Thank you for the support. I plan on sticking around. :D:

And the munchkin is amazing, thanks for the congrats. In fact I am in the process of planning her first birthday... at Disneyland. Her dad and I had our first date at DLR almost 10 years ago. We're really excited. DLR is a really special place for us.

btw... My husband agrees with you about his brother, he is an MF.

Designated cell phone areas would be great ONLY if the cell phones would ONLY work in those areas. lol

But I do think Disney is going to have to address this problem soon, hopefully with a handout flyer when you enter the gates or little statues holding up a sign saying Don't be rude..showing a cell phone.

I saw MORE than once on my last trip a parent on their cell phone with a child looking at the parent....pleading with their eyes to hang up. Voice mail is a great tool.

But I too know of people who live by their cell phone, take it everywhere with them, even into the shower. You cannot be their friend they are not there for you, they are on the cell phone all the time. Sad to have that type of umbilical cord attached to you 24/7. Personally NO job is worth that to me. I too own my own business and I thank god that I don't have my phone ringing all the time.

I understand that some people do have jobs that require total access...but truthfully what did they do before Cell phones? The real problem lies with people who feel they come before everyone else and show no courtesy to anyone around them. They feel the need to scream into the phone and I can't stand when I am in line to pay for something and someone is on the phone in front of me in line. It is just plain RUDE. Rude to the cashier and every person in line behind them. And those walkie talkie phones should only be allowed on construction sites. lol

Thanks for the welcome, MainStreeter. :) I read the site every day, but you probably won't see me post very much, because, as I said, I view it as a site primarily for CMs and I don't want to intrude too much on that space.

You've inspired me to start a thread, though, so I think I will. (I don't want to cause a thread drift... if Zazu hates that as much as he hates blank space and top posting, I might be in trouble!)

-p.b.

P.S. Don't worry Zazu, I hate annoying top posting too.

I'm afraid that the guests would "respect" designated cell phone areas about as much as they respect designated smoking areas.

Learned at a meeting last Wednesday night that we are going to be having temporary cell towers at the Getty Villa for corporate events. *grumbles* Apparantly our board doesn't want to offend any potential donors by letting the natural order of the canyon stand, leaving business people's phones unworkable. FORTUNATELY, there aren't that many corporate events due to the foundation's conditional use permit for the site. Yay.

During my past life I was one of three people involved with the running of the Central Accounting System for the Federal Courts (and the "Keeper of the Master Tables"). My bosses always knew that if they needed to get me they could call the WDW main number and leave a message on the phone in my room. In all my trips I only had three times when it was urgent that they contact me, and I always was able to get back to them within 24 hours.

However, after we came down for a week and a half for the 20th Anniversary the person who was my boss at that time told me that his second level supervisor told him that I was never again to be granted use of Annual Leave across the start of the new fiscal year.

ah,
June?
Where exactually was your husband at the time?, or was it a different relation as you said it was your brother in law.
I cannot fathom how you were harassed right after birth by your brother in law and no one else said anything along the lines of "hey, she just gave birth, BACK OFF"...

I think a designated cell site would be fabulous... I think cels not working in Disneyland would be even better... Although I understand the value of finding a loved one in the park...

I am however gulity of calling out, but only to my parents to give the Baby in Disneyland updates... and I only make the call when Daddy is changing a diaper.

My husband was in the adjoining room with his parents showing off the baby. (I had a difficult recovery) I don't even think he knows about the request.

Yeah, I can imagine...
I certainly would have gone ballistic and bounced him from the room if that had happened to my other half, brother or not. More power to you if you can thrive on such a stressful job but I know it would never work for me.
