I'm surprised that no one has mentioned a bane even worse than "regular" cell phones...those frickin' annoying devices from hell known as Sprint/Nextel walkie talkies! The only thing worse than listening to a shouted, banal, one-sided conversation is hearing the darned thing from both ends, with each set of verbal drivel preceeded by that annoying beep.

Agreed Syndrome. I have never heard an intelegent or even vaugely important conversation on those walkie talkies. Most are variations of what I like to call the 'canon of walkie talkie'
-Whats up?
-Where you at?
-Im here dude
-Shiii...wha I did?
-You did what with who?
-Peace/later
and my favorite
-I gotta take a dump, call you back

Why is it so imparitive that you use the walkie talkie...and is there an option of turning that damn chirp off? Its always about 100 decibles louder than the actual conversations?

"Where is 21?"
-Before 22?

Hi everyone, this is my first post - I have read these forums for about a year and decided to sign up :D:

My way to get back at cell phone users in the parks is to sing "M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E!" as loud as I possibly can over and over and over until they finally get off the darn phone!

I started this method a few years back, we were waiting for AK to open and in line in front of us was this jerk talking on the phone saying something like "I know, I dont even want to be here, I have to take my family on vacation or something but we're leaving early, blah blah blah..." I looked at the kids, they were near tears and I couldn't stand it! So I started to sing and soon his kids were singing and that was how it began!

So, next 4th of July, and you are on your cell phone in a park, watch out cuz here I come singing! :D:

Bring it on freepixie. I'll back you up with " DAVY,Davy Crockett,King of the wild fronteir". My mom claims I used to sing that in the bath-tub. Non stop.
( hey I was 4yrs old,it was the only line I knew)

Finally, in 3rd service, the one doing the announcements said, "And we'll be having pizza after the service today ... courtesy of the next person whose cell phone rings." No phone rang that service. :D:
We used to have this problem with our deaf members not knowing that there is sound on their cell phone/text pager. My solution was to take each phone (all SIdekicks, btw) and turn the settings off on all of them except for the few hard of hearing ones. Theirs I set up a setting called church. It is silent. No sound, no vibrate but the messages will still go through and they can read them later.
My most embarassing moment was a Weds night while interpreting a prayer service and it was my cell phone that went off. EEEK! I don't forget anymore.

That's a significant difference between you and SGs -- you learn!

I actually had a lady show up in court to testify once (on behalf of her husband the defendant -- both were slumlords on trial for the conditions they made their tenants live in) who not only had already ticked off the judge by being late from a break, but she also ignored all the signs and warnings to have all cell phones off, and her phone went off while she was testifying! If that weren't enough, ten minutes later it rang again -- she didn't turn it off when it rang the first time! (Needless to say the bailiff took her phone after that and kept it until she was done.)

These are hilarious posts!

Numbnuts stupid guest was yammering on his cell phone during "Turtle Talk" tonight!! It's must have been the "special" audience in general, which made for a great show. Crush called on one kid who had no clue what was going on...for a minute, I thought that maybe he didn't speak English! After trying to engage him for a bit, Crush said, "This is just like talking to Dory!" Better yet, he asked the mom to identify herself. She did, and he said, "Hi, Mamasita!" She was like, "Huh? What?" and Crush said, "I see he takes after you." It was a riot!! Made up for having to deal with Cell Phone Idiot.

To be fair, some of us HAVE to use our cell phones in the parks. :(

My mother and I both work for the same company. One of us is the backup for the other, and there are only the two of us in our department. We've trained other workers to handle most things while we are gone, but there are always unexpected things that you can't plan for.

If we didn't take our cell phones and have them on, we COULDN'T GO AT ALL.

Now, Granted, we turn them on Vibrate so as not to bother anyone and check them after getting out of an attraction so we can sit on a bench and call in to handle the problems without bothering anyone else.

Nothing like having your cellphone bouncing around in your pocket on Tower of Terror till it's practically in your groin and then having it start vibrating for the entire ride... :D:
