SG's they're ALL over

Post by Scott45 » Tue Nov 14, 2006 5:32 pm

So there I was fixing the Emergency Exit door hardware at the Naval Hospital where I work when someone rushes through wife/GF/whatever trailing behind and heads up the stairwell. Amused in spite of myself I asked if he was going on the roof and got a "drop dead" stare as he proceeds to stomp upstairs with silent female in tow. A minute later I hear a "Thwump Thwump" which is a pretty good indication of a loud noise as I'm deaf and SG comes stomping down the stairs, brushes by without a pause, glance, or indication of an IQ and proceed down the hall with a sheepish looking Female in tow...........

Rolling my eyes I return to fixing the door and look up just in time to see an E-1 (newbie sailor) trip over the little orange cones SG ignored and walked over.

Not trying to steal your thunder, Scott, but I didn't know where this should go.

So I was in Petsmart yesterday. I needed to pick up some liquid plant food for the live plants in my aquarium. So, the cashier rings it up, and it comes to $6.96. I give the cashier a ten dollar bill ($10.00). She enters $1000.00, and the cash register says CHANGE: $993.04. I reply, "Wow, that would be some good money to spend for Christmas presents. The girl then proceeds to grab a piece of paper and a pen and attempts to subtract $6.96 from $10.00, and says, "I'm so bad at math." :oweye:

So I reply, "$3.04" and think to myself, "then why are you a cashier?" :duh:

DAMN, too bad it wasn't $10,000.00.
Half-assed reminds me of years ago. Myself and another employee were working the front counter together. He punched in his amount, then I did mine. I hit total,"OK sir that comes to $85,000.00" The customer gives me a WTF look,I told him (jokingly) "It's a really great beltsander". That was fun trying to explain that to the main office. :D:

This is me!! :D: Before we got our new system I always added another zero. Was so embarrassed at first :o: but later I told my lead & manager this was just an act so I could interact more with my guests. Swear, 2 leads actually bought my story.

When I was cashiering, that was so easy to do. For some reason, that zero button gets stuck and you don't realize it until after you hit total. Explaining the mistake to your lead or manager was a whole other headache. Once you hit that total button, you're screwed and only the Johnny Jackass with a "magical" key could fix it. Of course in the process, you look like a half-wit to the guest, your manager and whatever staff was working that day. Within 20 minutes, the whole area you worked in would know that it was you and you would hear it for the rest of your shift from anyone passing by.

Hey, mistakes happen. :)

It was when she pulled out a notepad to subtract $6.96 from $10.00, that I thought that she should do something other than retail cash registering.
