Found the site last night and have been rolling reading some of these posts. I worked for WDI a few years ago and you CMs that interact with guests truly are amazing; I know I could not put up with the crap you all do - day in and out.
I thought I would just write up a post to say thanks to CMs that have brightened our vacations to WDW. These are just various things from a number of different visits.
Splash: Our oldest son was too small to ride our previous vacation. This last vacation we went up to check his height and yes! he was finally tall enough. The CM there overheard us congratulating our son and joined in. He said "I remember you; wow you have grown a lot! We have been waiting for you to come back!" He gave our son some stickers (instant way to win that boys heart) and gave us all fastpasses so we could go right in. To whomever you were my son thought you were the coolest guy EVER!
HM: Our youngest son really wanted to go on this but was bit nervous...especially after the stretch. The boarding CM could see this and remarked that he looked like such a brave boy and she knew he was going to have such fun. She must have been moved to unload while we were on the ride because there she was when we got off. She remembered our son, asked how he did (he was a champ), remarked that he was now an expert rider and how proud she was of him. The rest of the day all fear was gone - that boy determined to be an "expert" at every attraction. On the way home he listed off: I am an Haunted House Expert, a Pirates Expert, etc.
Hollywood & Vine Character Breakfast - Younger son is a Little Einsteins FANATIC and we found out there was a new character dining with Leo & June. When Leo & June came out the boy froze up - he was in awe that there they were in PERSON. When June came around to our table he went on and on about how much he liked her and Leo. The CM was just great and spent a little bit more time then is usual at our table while our son talked her ear off. When it came time for the kids to dance with the characters June must have remembered because she came up to get our son and have him dance. The whole day our son could not talk about anything else but June and telling his older brother "see, I told you they were real!"
Main Street Station: We had been having rotten luck seeing Spectro each night. We would stake out a spot to inevitably have someone decided that, come parade time, they would stand in front of our kids, or older kids would squeeze in and push them back, etc. Our last day I decided I would camp out at the steps of the Main Street Station an hour before the parade so I could get us all a spot up top.
Before they open the area for Spectro there is (or was) a show up there so they had the stairways blocked. I hung out chatting it up with the CM working the ropes. At one point she asked why I was camping out so early and I explained. After that we just went back to just chatting about every day things.
Time for rope drop and I head up the stairs. The CM I was talkign to earlier found me, took my arm and said "come with me". She had another CM upstairs saving a table for us right along the railing and told me she wanted to make sure she could get us the best seats possible. That was such a sweet thing for her to do and we thanked her profusely. The kids had an awesome view for Spectro and the fireworks after.
Various CMs: Last year, the night before we were to leave for our annual holiday trip with my folks, my youngest son tripped and did a HUGE face plant into his metal bunk bed. Full on mouth to the railing chipping his front teeth, bruising his face, the works. Rush him to the doctor, find out he is going to live ;) and given the go ahead to leave on our vacation the next day. Come morning our son looked terrible - face all bruised, a black eye and his mouth all puffed out like he was a guest star on Planet of the Apes. The boy looked f'd up...no question about it.
We get to WDW and every CM went out of their way to greet our son, offer stickers to him and his brother, handing us fast passes at almost every attraction we went up to, characters spending extra time with him, the works. You all were fantastic and really brightened up his trip when he was looking and feeling like crap. The best medicine ever and one that money cannot buy!
I could go on with other stories but these are the top ones that come to mind. Thanks to you all - you certainly have a job I know I could not do each day!
