More jokes to play on newhires...

Post by Scream162 » Sat Oct 14, 2006 2:20 am

At Mansion we liked to call Tower at sunset when it's a n00b and tell them to call Facilities and let them know that the sundial is broken.

...or....

When being bumped out from Load 2 or Unload, I like to tell n00bs that there's a wheelchair on buggy 132 (we only have 131 buggies) and see if they catch it.

What are some pranks you pull on newhires?

Ian, one of the leads over at Pirates, used to love to scare anyone who was down in Mansion service by throwing his bookbag onto the floor from the stairs. It usually made such a loud echo that anyone in the vicinity jumped out of their skin - the noobs more than others.

Back in my Mansion days, we'd hide behind the curtains in the portrait hallway waiting to jump out at noobs bumping to load. I mean, the whole point of training at Mansion was scaring the daylights out of the noobs

My favorites were the guys on Subs. There used to be the old-fashioned curb feelers (a car thing back in the 60's and before) on top of the subs that would make this scraping sound while going through the rockwork in the caves. The veterans used to tell the noobs that they might hear Walt's ghost in the sub caves, then of course they'd hear the scraping and freak out.

When training, I like to tell the Fresh Meat (as we call them) absolutely everything they need to know in the first day, then listen to the crackly sound as their brains glaze over and start to crack!

If they're CPers, on day 2 I ask them if they brought their bluebooks so they can write the exam on the material I covered on day 1.

If we don't like them, we tell them all about Towel Baby Lady and remind them to compliment her on her beautiful child.

At Dinosaur in DAK, it has been told that during a noobs first day "walking the attraction" T Rex "comes to life" when the noob walks by.

When I used to work Knott's, in Dispatch at Supreme Scream, we say over the PA system to check seat belt "13", but the problem is, there are only 12 seats, hahaha!! So, the new hires would go around the tower searching for 13!!! Same thing vice versa, we would be on the ground, go around the tower, check the belts, and hold one finger on the right hand as a "1" and 3 fingers on the left hand as a "3", signifying a "13" and the dispatch person would be searching the control console looking for the number 13 seat.

In the FL dark rides, the beep from the notice button at unload sounds exactly like the endless tone of an e-stop when held down long enough... guess how people learn to ignore everything but the computer readout? :p

Extra points for someone getting the button with a belt buckle so they can throw both hands up and look around in confusion at unload.

Annoying but harmless and probably a good safety/instincts training in the long run... and damn hilarious.

Now that we have phased out the "class of ____" nametags, it's much easier to play games of "i'm new, what am I doing" with the new hires. :D:

We had a Fantasmic! Lead who purposely checked out the Tomorrowland Foods costume for Tomorrowland parades and acted like he was new to joke around with a CM. When a CM told him the correct way to close a queue, he asked, "What's a queue?" It was hilarious!!!

What's a queue? Isn't that the letter after P and before R ?

Must be a British spelling. :D:
