Don't be rocking the boat Syndrome. That's not what she meant. Perhaps you realize that, but keep in mind that there might be others who will look at that comment and think that maybe she did mean that non-christians wouldn't be appalled by bad behavior. I'm quite sure that what she means is that it's always more appalling when someone claiming "membership" (not a good word for it, but the only one that I could think of) in a group to which you belong does something truly horrendous. The reports from Night of Joy are so awful that most Christians don't even want to believe them and cringe when it gets brought up. My husband and I were going to try to pick up PAC shifts during Night of Joy to try and get a sense of what the hub-bub was about, but we were out of state for my father's funeral.Syndrome wrote:So non-Christians aren't allowed to be appalled?! Sorry, but after 52 Disney cruises, I can't help rocking boats. ;)WLStephanie wrote:Don't be rocking the boat Syndrome.

Re: Stupid Freaking Cheerleaders!!!!!
When a class of people act badly then other members of that class should righteously be appalled. If I was a soccer fan and I went to a match were people acted badly then I as a soccer fan would be appalled. Would not CMs be appalled by another CM or group of CMs who did really bad things that made CMs look bad?
In this case the class was Christians and I as a member of that class of people was appalled because Night of Joy was not as it was intended to be and shed a bad light on Disney and Christians. No religion here just me upset.
I want to see them cheer leaders in action, I bet they never will match the Brazilians.
Are you the VMK player acealienhunter? He has an avatar just like yours.

I know what you meant, Churchy...I just couldn't help it after the "saved/non-saved" uproar. But I do think you have one little item wrong...you're putting yourself under the same classification as those self-professed "Christians." Anyone can adopt a label but that means nothing. In my view, a Christian is someone who lives by the principles set forth by Christ. Yes, I know Jesus could go pretty medieval when he wanted to (look at what he did to the moneychangers!), but I just can't picture him going around punching rental cars.
But my opinion probably doesn't count anyway, as I am a member of the faith that voted to (gasp!) allow congregations to let gay people serve as elders etc., and we're on such good terms with others of other faiths in our community that the Jewish congregation even sends us an Easter card! I'm sure that minister who was setting the f-gs straight on NOJ figures I'm hellbound right along with them.

I am so glad I stumbled across this thread. I know they can be horrible but I must say that our one and only trip that involved the cheerleaders was really not that bad. We ran into them only at MGM during springbreak of 2005. They were nice and polite to us and I had no trouble with the mothers although the ones I saw looked like they were trying their hardest to relive their teenage years all over again. I know I am in the minority because I have read horror stories here and other boards. I might add that my son, who was 15 at the time, absolutely loved it. He was in teenage boy hormone heaven.
Re: Stupid Freaking Cheerleaders!!!!!
So what other times of the year do you guys get to entertain the cheerleaders then?
We were there during pop warner one december. Didn't have any real issues except the stupid things they put in their hair.
Oh and at Big Thunder Mountain a group of them couldn't figure the "two to a car" instruction.

Please elaborate on the stuff they put in their hair as that sounds interesting.

Re: Stupid Freaking Cheerleaders!!!!!
I think they were some kind of foam curler type thing designed to curl their hair. They all had them done identically then all piled up on top of their heads, and walked round wearing identical tracksuits. It was like looking at hundreds of little clones. :D:
