What Is This?
At Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters:
SG: Is this a ride?
SG: Is This a show?
SG: Does this go fast?
SG: Does this have loops?
SG: Is this a roller coaster?
I mean, they ask what the ride is even when there's a sign rRIGHT next to the entrance describing what it is, yet, they still ask what the ride is.
Anyone got a "What is this?" ride questions?

Here is one that we get all the time. Standing out front at Expedition Everest, signs everywhere, big mountain in the background.
SG: Is this Everest?
SG: Is this Everest?

I got the same question, more or less ("Any loop-de-loops in this one?") while doing greeter duty at Alice's Curious Labyrinth...

Similar idea as a photographer, standing there with the camera waiting for the guest:
SG: "Will you get the castle/ hat/ guitar/ tree/ golf ball in the picture?"
Had one a while back when I had the camera on a tripod in front of the guitar at night, and the guest asked if I would get the guitar in the background.
"No, I'm sorry, I get the Tower of Terror in the background." (which you can't see from that angle because of the trees) Confused look, then she suddenly gets it. "ohhhhh, ok. hehe"
:duh:

What do you mean you won't smile for the camera?

Re: What Is This?
My first season, 1987, "State Fair Days" at Disneyland. Snockered or high guest with trailer park trash written all over him comes up to me asking, "Wheres the last ride at the end of the universe?" Seems to me like he's already caught that one, but I reply, "Space Mountain? It's down Main Street and right when you get to the Hub - that's the center of Disneyland."DLRFantasmic!Dan wrote:Anyone got a "What is this?" ride questions?
Guest takes all this in, gratefully and asks of me (as I'm standing in a midway game booth, surrounded by toys, wearing a costume and nametag), "Thanks - do you work here?"
Sigh! :D:

Re: What Is This?
I never could understand the "Do your work here?" bit especially in a store where the have a big bright apron on and a name tag.
Also annoying is the person who says "Is this ride safe?".
Worse than the person who knows nothing about an attraction is the know-it-all who has to tell everyone within earshot a detailed account of what will happen, is happening, may happen, and has happened. I would like to get scared to death and not be told that something is about to make me laugh. It is nice if someone points out hidden mickeys or talks about the history but please let me experience the bloody ride without knowing every detail in advance.

Re: What Is This?
I commonly tell people extremely outlandish things when asked questions like "Does Dark Ride #1 go fast?" and such, like saying it only goes fast before it does the 18 loops in a row. If someone seems to seriously want to know though, better to tell them the straight simple truth... THEN tell them to "Oh, make sure you hold on during the 47 barrel rolls in a row!" :)

I prefer the people who THINK they know it all and try to show off however they actually know diddily squat!
for example:
sg: this is Expedition Everest It is 300 feet tall, and is the fastest coaster this side of the mississippi!
(yes i heard a guest say that while online(yes me and my friends laughed out loud(yes i have friends ))) :p:
"Do human beings realize life as they live it? Every... every minute?"
"No. Walt Disney, maybe, but that's about it."
