Hi all,
Some of you may know me from my 3D Horizons or Epcot models, and over the last couple of months I've been working with another Disney fan (and former CM) on the site ThemedAttractions.com (TA). Themed Attractions.com is dedicated to discussing and celebrating theme parks the world over. Although it may appear at this stage we're tilted a bit more toward Disney. :)
We've been building up a massive library of theme park videos and are now working on a "knowledgebase" or library of theme parks. We've started with WDW because the owner of the site lives *very* close to the park and well, it's the resort we're the most familiar with. We'll be expanding to other resorts (Disney and Non-Disney) as time progresses and depending on the amount of feedback and help we get for each resort/park.
We decided to build the theme park library because as we've scoured the net looking for information (I'm looking for photos and dimensions for my models, he's looking for data for his DVDs that are in production), we've noticed a lot of conflicting facts, stories and data out there. We've also noticed that some of the information being presented out there is being done by folks who never had anything to do with the attraction or park being discussed.
So that's why I'm posting here today. We figure who better to set the record straight on these attractions then the folks who built them and the folks who run them. Now we're not looking for top secret information here, we don't want *anyone* fired. We're aware of how strict Disney's NDAs can be. We're just looking for proud CMs to help us get the information correct and detailed about their attraction. Think of it as a way to help preserve your favorite attraction. Imagine if we had done something like this when Mr. Toad or Horizons was around?
So on behalf of VFXPro (the owner of TA) and myself I'd like to personally invite all current and former CMs to please check out our WDW Central Beta Site and we'd love to hear from ya if you'd like to help out. :)
Please bear in mind that we're busy working on the site so a lot of the areas aren't complete yet. (That's why I'm here today lol) But if you'd like to see an example of the level of detail and depth we're aiming for, simply check out the Spaceship Earth pages in the EPCOT section.
Thanks and I hope to see ya there!
