Not sure where to post this or if there is a better site but here goes.
My son is a Junior in high school and my husband and I and he have talked about him taking a year off after high school before college and working at Disneyworld. We love Disney and DS and I will be there in March for a week. DH does not do amusement parks so we leave him at home.
DS is a lifeguard and a very good one I might say. Others at the pool say that all the time and his bosses really like him so I am not just a mother talking.
When he does start college he is probably going into marketing so Disney on his resume would look very nice. How would he go about applying for a job at Disney as a lifeguard or any other position? What is the pay? Is there housing Disney recommends (I know they have some housing for the college plan but this will be different) or uses?
Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Employment information
I don't have a lot of info, but I can probably steer you in the right direction. With 2 exclusive water parks and a pool at just about every Disney Resort, I would assume the need for lifegaurds would be pretty high.
You may want to consider joining the WDW college program that has it's own list of benefits including a job at WDW and 75% of housing costs covered. (As far as I know. That may have changed.) Here's a link if you want more info. -> http://www.wdwcollegeprogram.com/sap/it ... index.html
As well as their hotline number, 1-800-722-2930.
The other option would be to call the WDW Casting Center for more info and to see what's available right now. 1-407-828-1000
Hope that helps! :mickey2:

Re: Employment information
Thanks for the info. He won't be in college that year he works at Disney so I don't think he can do the college program. We looked into it too. But I did not have the hotline number. Re: Employment information
I would look into the CareerStart program, which is what I'm doing currently. It is designed with recent high school grads in mind. I'm in the same boat as your son; I wanted to take a year off before college. Lifegaurds are always sorely needed, and if he checks that on his application, they will snatch him right up. What's nice about this program is that there is Disney sponsored housing provided, and the rent is pretty cheap, so he wouldn't have to worry about securing a *real* appartment right after graduating. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me, I'm happy to help. Or else you could refer to http://www.disneycareerstart.com, however I found the site to be rather lacking in information. It paints a nice picture, though. Of course, I'm here to point out all of the flaws in said nice picture, so that your son can decide whether it's worth it or not.
It's definately worth it to me, and I'm stuck cleaning bathrooms most of the time :p:
