Just FYI, he said in the post that he is no longer a cast member.

"Where did I park? You work here and you don't know where I parked?!"
"Nope, sorry. I forgot to memorize all 15,000 cars' spots as they drove in today." :p:

That was a mean and vicious thing to say to someone.

I have been in some form of public related business off and on since I was 19 years old. At 19 or 20 years old my boss was often hung over so I ran her dog grooming business. I had a lady who threw a fit because I said her dog would be ready early that afternoon as she wanted it earlier. I said 1pm and that was fine with her. I had guests who nit picked of a trimming one sixteenth of an inch too short, not treating their babies right, and all sorts of silly things. I had to smile as their dogs urinated on the drapes and pooped on the rugs. I had to smile when their dog had earlier tried to rip my face off. I had to smile while their I spent hours gently working on dogs who were too fat or were on death's door but the owners loved their babies.

It is not just a Disney matter but dealing with the public in any form is very stressful whether you are a grocery bagger, doctor, dog groomer or cast member. It has taken me 48 years of life and I still mishandled situations too often. Misunderstanding is a commmon factor and people miscommunicate too often. One slip of the tongue or one innocent bad habit and you get the heat of a costumer.

You should apoligize as she did not deserve to be insulted. Any CM here who is on stage a lot can tell you that what happened could have happened to anyone. It also takes a lot of exposure to rude people to get to the point that you do not respond to name calling, threats of being fired, or watching child neglect or abuse.

Gets of the soap box and gently hands it over to someone else. Goes to corner to calm down.

This is your first post ever on SGT, you're not a cast member, and somehow you feel you have the right to say something like this. Sounds like you need to find a new web site to post on.

This is a site by and for cast members. We do allow guests here, but you have to realize that you're backstage here. If you want to whine about cast members, go to Mice Age or Laughing Place. Or at least wait until you've been around this site a bit so you don't sound like a complete jerk with your very first post.

I'll take that soapbox.

I'd like to challenge anyone, like you, who thinks that we as CM's have it easy and should just deal with the public when they behave like the guest in the OP; to do our job. They would fail, morover there would most likely be several news reports of rampent stupidity killings in theam parks across this great land.

The point is, that the CM did deal with it. Then he left, and he has my respect for admitting this fact, and there are more like him. People who get to a park and discover the dirty little secret most guest never see. I stay; and I will continue to stay. Why? Because there are parts of this job that give me a high equal to no other.

The smile that I see when I take a photo of a little girl who has just met Barney (universal, My full time job mind you) face to face, for the first time. The look of excitement of a young boy who has just seen the hero car jump through a towering inferno of fire in the Extream Stunt Show (DMGMS my other Job.) and felt the heat of the blast to tell him that it was as real as it gets. Or the little interactions with our special guests, the ones that have come to our little world to escape a illness or condition that has forced them to grow up far beyond their small life span. I will light up for a month if I see them smile. Moreso if I cause them to smile. I love my jobs for these reasons, and if I could. I would never take a day off.

Dealing with the stupid, is only a little part, and it would be a lot tougher if places like this did not exist so that we can get togather and make ourselves laugh. People like you don't understand this. You think that we are aiming to embarras you when in reality, you do that fine by yourselves without our help.

I hope you now understand where we are comming from. I mean no ill will to you. Yet if you don't understand, then kindly make your first post your last and leave us in peace, because you will not like what you will see here.

A bit of a rant I'm sure, but I'm done now. (Next for the soapbox)

Hope you all don't mind, but I have to add that as a guest, I truly appreciate all that CMs do! I'm in public service myself (read: bureaucrat, not politician), and I get my share of cranky "clients," shall we call them, each day. I go to WDW at least four times a year to escape, not just from my clients, but from all the crap that is involved (policies, procedures, and people).

I try not to be a pest to CMs, and feel guilty when things are done for me. Tonight, for instance, I scheduled a massage for my next trip, and the CM called a therapist in for my appt. I could have scheduled for a different time, I'm sure, but the CM who helped me didn't give me a chance to do that. That made me feel special (albeit still a little guilty). Thank you, thank you, thank you all so much for adding Disney Magic even before I start my vacation! :)

Churchy comes out of the corner with dust pan and sweeps up the ashes of what is left of the soap box. Churchy stands on the few specks left of the soapbox and says:

I wish I could work for Disney parks so bad but never ever will have a job again in my life. I am here because I get fed up with other guests whose stupid tricks cause rides to shut down for weeks at a time, cause lines to form, who abuse the CMs and guests, and in general make the life of other guest a nightmare. I as a guest am learning here how to act in public also. At ToonFest, which nobody read my post, I would stop and think of the folk here. No whining, do not expect CMs to break rules, no grabbing lanyards, no boingy pins, be clear in your needs and wants, and to recognize guest habits.

I am here to learn to be a good person in life and to vent. Yeah some CMs should be fired and shipped to Siberia like that witch who fired my Pin Trader friend in stores and ruined pin trading. If someone brings up co-workers who stink then maybe I will chime in.

The main issue here is that your post was so mean and the poor girl was only ask for sympathy and advice not insults. Stay away from the site I moderate because you will be banned in two seconds.

Churchy now walks away leaving a few atons remaining of the soap box. Churchy crawls under a rock so disgusted at that post and cries a sad lament over what this world is coming to. Do not lift the rock for a week.

Thank you all. I've never had anyone stand up for me like that. Usually it's the "shove it up your @$$" treatment I get when I screw up in a forum, but you guys and girls.......... Thank you!

Disney was my very first job, I was looking to aim high, but perhaps I jumped the gun. I was overwhelmed by the emotions I kept inside me, about becoming a victim of the clique-ish environment backstage, about the unbearable guests who "Leave their brains at the gate", about the injustice of seeing a manager allowing a guest to completely bypass the two safety videos in the ride area and skip to the main attraction after said guest screamed at a midle-aged cast member for not allowing him to go into the briefing room because he didn't have a launch ticket and threatening her about it, and about the nerve of some CMs who think they're treated unfairly because another CM whose obesity became a disability recieves special treatment because she can't walk long distances without becoming short of breath, and calling the obese CM "lazy". I internalized it all and it broke me down.

dylan: Thank you for your rant. Made me think twice about quitting the attractions buisness entirely. Who knows? I might get to meet you in person should my application for Universal Orlando goes through.

Churchy: Thank you most of all. I think I'll wait that week untill you come out from that rock before asking to hug you. This is what I needed. No one could've stood up for me like you did. I already have someone telling me off in another forum just because I used the word "America" in my topic title, "America DOES Have Talent", completely ignoring the fact that the topic was just links to youtube on impressive acts on "America's Got Talent", and turning it into a vicious anti-american rant. And worst yet, that person, wherever-he-lives, has others who support that..... (Again, not something that needed to be said by me, but must be let out.) Anyrate, the world needs more people like you. Thank you so much.

P.S: As much as I appreciate the support for this "poor girl", I have to correct you all that I'm a 19 year-old boy. Just thought I let you know. :stitch:

Wow you are technically young enough to be my grandson Crawls back under the rock lol. He had not right to use you as a punching bag. This site is for people not only to sit back and make fun of guests. Your post was your way of participating and getting feed back. In the future you will meet these same people over and over.

In the nursing home as they lay dying and shrivled up you will hear them abusing staff and throwing bed pans. As little kids they were the ones who hit you on the head with books, threw fits because the did not get chocolate milk and told you exactly how to play games. They grow up and are everywhere even in the corporate offices. Quitting Disney would not help as you would have to take a job as a janitor when the business is closed to avoid them people.

You are still a young un and I can tell you that forums have their back seat moderators, annoying blow hards, wind bags, and people who get their thrills by trolling and picking fights while hurting people. Seen his kind before and would ban him if I could, is Polar hiring?

I love this site because they are really like the CMs in real life, kind and patient while putting up with my antics. They have been too kind with me. Hiding back under my rock and takes the bag of Hershey's Hugs from Taryn with me under the rock.

Sorry if I called you poor girl, i get confused easily, back to rock an sorry about that.

I had a friend that once worked as a dog groomer. One day he had a extremely vicious poodle that bit him one too many times. He retaliated by cold cocking the dog with a scrub brush. When the dog's owner showed up to pick up her baby the dog literally leap into her arms. Mommy soon discovered a large lump on the dog's head and started screaming bloody murder. None of the groomers took credit for the lump so she stormed out.
