I *swear* to you: There is a back entrance!

Post by Kwahati » Sun Aug 20, 2006 7:25 am

Hey, y'all.

I hope this is the right place for this thread...if not, I bow to the almighty power of the mods to move this where it should go...

I know CM's and employees everywhere get ignored, but I'm curious if anyone has had encounters where, simply because you work there, people are assuming you're lying to them? I'll start off this thread with one from a couple of minutes ago:

I just had an old lady at my desk ask me where her tour-group is meeting their bus.
Her: "They said it was going to be by the back entrance."
Me: "Yes, indeed, ma'am. If you just go around past the stairs to your right and continue on past the vending machines, you'll find the back entrance and your coach beyond."
Her: "Well, yes, but I was just back there and I didn't see the back entrance..."
Me: "Well, if you go past the stairs to your right and continue on past the vending machines..."
Her: "I didn't see any back entrance!"
Me: "Ma'am, seriously, the back entrance is just around past the stairs and the vending machines to your right..."
Her: "Oh good! Here's more of my group. I'll just follow them." <she then follows her group around to her right past the stairs and the vending machines and out the rear entrance>
Me:

Honestly, do you think I have the time or the energy at 0600 to come up with a creative lie just for you? And it's not like there's any chance I could get away with it: just mention what time it happened and corporate will be like 'oh yeah, so it's the one guy who was working at that hour...'

he he he. I had a guest last week come into the restaurant WITH his luggage. He then proceeds to ask me "Where's the elevator?". "Back in the lobby, sir." "There's not one in here? How about out there (pointing to the balcony and towards the pool)?" "No sir. You'll have to head back to the elevator." "There's not one that I can use that's closer?" "No sir. You'll have to head back the the lobby."

LOL. You probably sent them up the ramp, didn't you Kwahati (sorry if I spelled that wrong.)
:D:

I love listening to the idiots who think they know it all and insist one only needs a hand stamp to park hop, or just the ticket. They then go ballistic when informed they need both and don't believe it when a CM tells them it's Disneyland policy. Of course, that's followed by "why do I need the ticket if I got my hand stamped?"

Worse than that. At Lights Motors Action and the studios. Read on:

Guest x: What time is the next show.
Me: Our last show today is at 5:30
Guest x: But what about the 4:30 show.
Me: There is no 4:30 show today. Our next and final show is at 5:30
Guest x: But I was here yesterday and they had a 4:30 show.
Me: That was for only that day due to a special event. Today we have gone back to our normal show schedual 11:50, 2:45, 5:30.
Guest x: But I made dinner reservations at that time. I thought that the show was at 4:30
Me: I'm very sorry about that, but you will have to either miss the show or change the dinner time. I]Guest y:[/B] (her husband) This is rediculus, we aren't changeing nothing. You had better let us into that f^&%(@g statium or I'm gonna have your job.
Me: I'm sorry you feel that way sir, but our next show is at 5:30, it has been posted that way all day at the tip board and all week in the times guide, please come back no less than thirty minutes prior to show time and before you ask, there are no fast pass. :p:

Kwahati (the name of my beloved Aussie Shepard) is spelt exactaly currekt. :D: But were you paying attention? there's no ramp! You just go around past the stairs and the vending...ah screw it! :p:

And as far as guests knowing your job better than you: I've apparently become really difficult to negotiate with as a result of trying to make it easy. I often get guests who will ask my rate for a night and then simply say "You can do better than that, right?" so, invariably, I then quote them the absolute best price I can do (I'm not on commission, it doesn't matter to me what I get outta someone and corporate hands me lower limits in terms of percentages of room rates, and I abide by them). People often don't know what to do. I think some of them decide not to get rooms simply because I confused them by saying [more or less] "Yup, you're right. You know my job very well! Here's *your* rate!" :D: (And if they wander away confused, it doesn't affect my pocketbook so I'm still the big winner)
(And I wish someone would tell me they'd have my job! I think I'd give it to them if I didn't worry this place'd burn down without me--not that I care about the place, but it'd probably collapse onto my apartment building. )

We used to have the same issue at WDW until Biometrics was initiated for all guests and not just AP's. Not more hand stamps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D: :D: :D:

Here is a good one for you and we see it all the time. A guest comes up to a Fast Pass dispenser with all of their party's park tickets to obtain Fast Pass. After getting FP's for all tickets, they notice that only one of the FP tickets has a valid FP; all of the others are not valid.

Of course we know why  and ask the guest where the rest of their part is. Answers we get are they are either still back at the hotel or at another park. When we point out the message on the ticket that they may have used an invalid ticket and to use the ticket they came into the park with, we get perplexed looks. Explaint to them that the rest of their party must pass through the parks tunstiles to register them in the park which allows them to obtain FP's. Will then get comments like "this is stupid" or can you give me the additional FP's. :duh:

Gotta luv it

Had an all to familiar one a couple of days ago at Studios. I'm out on Hollywood Blvd, and a family comes up to me asking where they can catch the monorail to Animal Kingdom.

"I'm sorry folks, there isn't a monorail station either here or at Animal Kingdom, but you can take a shuttle bus if you like."
"I don't want a bus, I want the monorail. What do you mean there isn't a monorail? there is at the other parks!"
"Yes, there is one at Magic Kingdom and Epcot, but not here or Animal Kingdom, I'm sorry."
"Well why not? I want to ride the monorail. How am I supposed to get to Animal Kingdom then?"
"There are shuttle buses right outside of the gate. They can take you to any of the other parks."
"Well which one do I get on then? Nevermind, that's stupid. I'm not going to bother. I'll find someone that can help me get on the monorail."

And they walked off. Wonder if they ever found their ride?

What do you mean you won't smile for the camera?
