If they don't step aside, I'll repeat myself just as politely as before: "Excuse me." Same tone, same inflection. If they still don't move, I just smile and say, "pardon me, but I'm just going to keep saying 'excuse me' until you step to one side."

In a case like the one above, I would have asked the guest "Excuse me, but are you planning on moving forward? 'Cause if you're not, I'd like to move past." :) Another good line to use is to smile and say "Take your time, folks... but we're waiting on you."

You are better than me. I would say MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Frontierland operations is NO joke! I work there as well. It is hard work being in that heat. Kudos to us!

Guesta who ruin my day is when they don't cooperate. On Fantasmic! the other night, I had a couple stop in the middle of the tech aisle to view the show, I told them they can't stop there and that they have to move to some place else, like the Haunted Mansion, and they said they came from over there and it was full and refused to move. They eventually moved cursing how f'ed up it is. Next, there was a guest with a child on his shoulders and I asked him to get on the other side of the rope and he refused. I asked again over ten times and again, he refused with a "I'm fine, thank you." I had the rope almost touching the ground and when he gave in, he purposely steped on the rope.

WHAT AN ASS!!

That's when I'd take my own foot/hand off the rope, so when he takes his foot off, the rope springs back and hits him in the ass.

I'd have greeted all the other FP guests like this:

"Welcome sir, I see you have a VALID fastpass....pplease come on in."

"Hi Maam - Your fastpass is showing the CORRECT return time - Please proceed"

...after all, you'd only be telling the truth ! :D:

Or wait until he had a foot on each side of the rope and nail him in the 'nads.

Not that I don't tottaly see your point (right, wrong or indiffrent it was technically a breach of the rules), but I can also see why she was upset.
Sometimes in our country there is a diffrence between the legal rules and the societal rules. Yes the legal law says that the speed limit is x, but societal rules state that it is perfectly acceptable to go 5 miles over the speed limit. 99% of cops wont give you a ticket in that range (I mean come on - three miles?) and those who do are generally out to meet some quota offical or otherwise (and I got this straight from a friend who happens to be one of Kentucky's finest). I would have been upset too... it's not like she couldn't figure out why she had gotten the ticket (that would have been stupid) but she didn't belive she deserved it and most of society would agree with her.

Usually the guests that ruined my day came at the end of a great day during Wishes. Those ropes are nothing but trouble when you have one CM telling 300 or more unhappy guests that they cant go past.

One inparticular guest was when I was castle front. Wishes had JUST started and a family comes down the ramp from the restauraunt. I let them out so their on the other side of my rope. I didnt notice that they had a wheelchair (or stroller as a wheelchair), not that it really matters if I noticed or not. The father starts to tell me how his daughter is in a wheelchair and that he couldnt get out of the park because of all the people. I pointed to a clear path and told him that all he would have to do is say "excuse me" and they could be able to get through to leave the park. He says "No, I'm calling the fire marshal, this is unexceptable. If a piece of firework falls here, my girl will die. There will be a mass stampede and we wont be able to get out and she'll be crushed."
My reply was "Thats why we have this area roped off. The fire marshal has inspected this area and has told us to put a rope here. You ar emore than welcome to say excuse me to thos epeople over there and I'm sure they will move out of the way so you can get out."
He pulls out his cell phone and starts taking pictures of me saying how he has me and is anything happens it will be on my shoulders. He then procesed to call the fire marshal (whether he gets through or not is beyond me). He stays for the fireworks and takes pictures of them, and admires them like everyone else around him. He stayed around after the fireworks and approached me again saying "I'm going to report you to guest relations, this is unaceptable not letting a girl in a wheelchair out of the park." My reply "Sir, I told you there was a path and that all you had to do was politely ask a few people to move out of the way. You chose not to leave, and I stood here and watched you enjoy the fireworks. You made no attempt to leave or get out of an area you thought to be unsafe. If you would like my manager will be down here in a few minutes and she can discuss our fireworks safety with you."
He stormed off knowing I was right and that he was caught. I always wondered what he did with those pictures of me.

Okay, this didn't ruin my day, but I heard it from a friend, and it sounded too good to not pass on.

Yesterday at Test Track, about 10:30-11am, a British family comes up through the fastpass line to the merge point with a "No-Strings Attached" form (a tool used by CMs and managers to help out with guest recovery issues, most often used to grant fastpass access to one attraction or for some small piece of merchandise/foodstuffs that needs to be replaced like a hat or ice cream). Now the NSA form these guests were holding was made out for "Priority Entrance for ONE attraction of Guest's choice." When they came to merge point, the CM there asked them to hand over the NSA, but the guests refused. Evidentially they had some problems with paying for their tickets as they came into Epcot, so Bill (not using real names), the Vacation Planning manager, had given them a NSA pass to make up for their time. The dad in the family said "Bill told us that we could keep this pass and use it for any attraction as much as we want all day, and if there were any problems to call him." This is highly irregular, as NSA forms are NEVER made out for this purpose, and clearly say upon them that they must be surrendered upon use.

By this time, Test Track's coordinator had been called in, and attempted to call Bill up at Vacation Planning to straighten things out. Unfortunately, Bill wasn't at his desk, because he was evidently out doing his job. So the coordinator tells the father, politely but firmly, "I'm sorry sir, but I'm going to have to take that from you." The father said, "The hell you are! We're not moving from this spot without that! Kids block all the lines!!!!" So at this point, about ten minutes into the situation, the line was getting backed up, so Epcot 51 and Epcot 52 were called in (two of the East Side managers covering Track). As they came in, they rounded up five Security guards, as well as Bill from Vacation Planning and Elaine, the Guest Relations manager.

So there were four park managers, five security guards, and a coordinator against this family of five. Bill explained, "I told you guys when I gave you this pass that you could use it anytime all day, but only for one use." The father still wouldn't budge, so Epcot 51 (a no-nonsense type manager and one of my favorites) told him, "Sir, you will either surrender that pass or I will have you put in jail and booked for tresspassing." The father still wouldn't back down, called all of the managers incompetent, and demanded to speak to someone in a higher position of authority. So finally the park duty manager was called in, and, after learning of the situation, told the family, "We will let you on this ride and on Soarin', but that's it." The father grudgingly accepted, and the family finally went on Test Track, after at least a thirty minute delay. The coordinator then walked the family over to Soarin', with the family calling him a jerk all the way.

As I told my friend, when he told me this story, I'm glad I transferred out of attractions :auto:

So let's review what we have taught these idiots, if you *bleep* loud enough and cause enough mayhem, Disney will reward you. Nice. They should have been ejected for interferring with operations. Disney doesn't count on this family that much.
