I had no idea
I had no idea
Just found this place and love it already. I'm from England and have visited WDW 8 times. I knew that some guests were ummmm, unreasonable but had no idea how bad it could get. Just wanted you all to know that not all of us see the Cast Member as an object to vent frustration. Cast Members are an integral part of the Disney experience. If more guests took the time to stop and speak to Cast Members they'd have a much more enjoyable vacation. I've never had a negative experience with a Cast Member. Had plenty from guests. The family from hell on our boat for Living with the Land with two teenage boys that did nothing but fight constantly. When the CM asked the parents to control their children they were met with a mouthful of abuse. The man insisting he could enter the Fast Pass entrance to Mickey's Philharmagic with an expired pass for Peter Pan!!! I mean how do you people get through the day without slapping someone?
Thanks for everything you all do, hopefully I'll be back there soon for another visit. :D:

It is guests like you that make being a CM worthwhile. Even if I can only make one family's day magical I have accomplished something. Please hurry back!

Re: I had no idea
I too live in England and have visited WDW twice. Will be visiting a 3rd time in May 2007.
Have stumbled across this site and have enjoyed reading some of the comments and posts that CM have left.
I have nothing but admiration for the CM's. I agree, you are there to make our holidays a more enjoyable one and this was certainly proved when we visited May 26th 2006.
Whilst waiting for the Spectromagic Parade to begin a CM - Robert, asked my daughter aged 5 to dance. She jumped at the chance. We all watched the parade and as it finished I asked Robert where the best location would be to watch Wishes. After telling us a couple of ideal places we gathered up our belongings and were about to set of when Robert called me over and said ' I believe you are on my list' and allowed us to go down to the Reserved Seating area. As this was our last evening it made it all the more special for us and we could not thank him enough.
So, if you are reading this Robert, I would just like to say
THANKYOU :)

Re: I had no idea
How do we deal with it?
Well one, if you're on here, you read "Here's Your Sign: The Disney Saga" (which is about to become required reading for the new school year :D: )
Two, if you ever get the chance to go backstage, near each cast entrance to a backstage area there is a large foam block attached to the wall that says "Bang Head Here!"
Now if you're in my shoes, you have those two options. Or you can jump into the bank as it blows up at The Great Movie Ride. Or hope that stray blank finds a mark on you and helps you achieve that eternal peace that many of us long for (Also known as clocking out)

Fortunately, Im not there for the money. See, unlike 99.9% of the people that work for Disney, Im old school Mouse House. In other words, Im not there for the benefits (Save for the admission), Im there to make someone's day. Be it a child, someone who's been on GMR more than everyone else in the world combined. . .and even for the group of girls who I now have a fear of flash bulbs on camera because of the amount of photos they took of me during a show.
I will tell you though, the moment that someone says "Man, you must have a lot of fun working here" and you reply "Not really, it's just a job", that means it's time to pack up and move onto a different area, which is why Im at GMR now, because back at Rock n Roller Coaster, it had become just another job.
I love how Disney all ways tells us CMs it takes 50 good situations to make up for one bad situation for a guest. Yet with us, we can get yelled at, spit on and brought to the lowest level possible, and we'll forget about it seconds later, or right on the spot when we see a kid have the time of their life.

Re: I had no idea
Nope. You guys rock :D:
Especially the CM who must have travelled at the speed of light to get to my nephew when he went face first on the concrete at the TTA entrance. She was like an 18 year old fairy godmother.
For every stupid guest there's a bazillion who know that you guys are all part of the experience and appreciate everything you do. :bouncemic
