Another thing is the no smoking bit. In Camp Snoopy there are red "Please no smoking--Children are at play." signs. Unfortunately, guests who are addicted to tobacco seem to suffer from not only color blindness but dyslexia when they're asked to not smoke--get the classic, "I didn't/don't see any no smoking signs." Entrance to Camp Snoopy from the main entrance has these "smoker's outposts" things that are supposed to be for putting out their smokes before entering. But people seem to think they are movable chain supports, or something to knock over for kicks. There have been many times I and other R.O.s have had to get after guests --sometimes over the P.A.--to remind them that Camp Snoopy is a no smoking area. There have been a few times I've been confronted by a nicotine-befuddled jerk asking, sometimes indignately, where are they allowed to smoke. I always said that those places are listed on the back of the map, but I tell them that no smoking is permitted in Camp Snoopy, in ride queues or on rides, in restrooms, restaurants, shops or indoor show venues. I mean, most of my family has or does smoke--most who smoked are paying the price and have been forced to stop for health reasons. I got plenty of second-hand smoke, but never smoked. The part I don't understand is the fact that those people lived for a time without smoking, yet insist that they can't stop. They can, they're just too lazy and uncommitted to quit.Yes, I'm aware that nicotine is addictive. My mom tried to stop several times with gum, cigarette holders that gradually decreased the amount of smoke through, and later patches. It wasn't until she was diagnosed a couple years ago with COPD that she finally quit. She has to take six different meds a day, and only half are available as generics. And they cost plenty. Had she never smoked, or had been committed to quitting earlier, she would be in better health. She also has an abdominal aortic aneurysm; with her COPD, she can't have surgery, and it's 3" too high for a stent. And it's getting close to where it could rupture. If something happens to her and I'm still in my current situation, I'm toast. Folks, you don't need the weed. Quit while you can. Having a preventable, incurable medical condition is no fun, and not fair to your family. And think how much money you could save by not smoking. I'm sure by this time we wouldn't have to be concerned about the cost of living had Mom saved the money that literally went up in smoke instead.
