Pirates of the __________ ?
Just watching CNBC and I heard Michael Eisner say the name of the ride.
Oddly, he pronounced it differently than I do. Just wondering how everyone else says it.
Is it Pirates of the Care-a-be-an? Or Pirates of the Ca-rib-e-an?
Not that Eisner would know one way or the other, but it has me wondering . . . :)

Re: Pirates of the __________ ?
I like to ride on Pirates of the CARE-uh-BE-in...
The Disney Magic and Wonder often sail the kuh-RI-be-in.
My family has always pronounced 'em those ways. So: since I do it that way, it MUST be right!*

I could swear we had this discussion before. Eisner is an idiot and no one really listens to what he has to say..OH!! I mean, it all depends on how much rum you've had to drink. Of course this may just be a personal issue.

Re: Pirates of the __________ ?
On the ride announcements I always heard it pronounced CARE- uh- BE-in. I haven't been to Disneyland in over twenty years, but I heard where they made "Pirates" PC by having the pirates chase a woman with a tray of food instead of chasing her. And I understand that they have undone this. I mean, anyone who's been to DL and ridden Pirates KNOWS why he's chasing her! For some very un-Disney-like actions! I always thought it was a hoot to see the chase scenes--first you'd see two or three pirates chasing pretty women, then there was a scared-looking pirate being chased by a 300 pound woman! The contrast and element of surprise was just hilarious! And then there was a lady with a candlestick hiding inside a barrel, right next to a pirate holding up a piece of dropped feminine finery, saying he wonders where she went, and she keeps popping in and out of the barrel, saying he'll never find her in here. There was that tension when you wondered, what if he were to turn around and look at that barrel just as she popped up? The bride auction scene was something else--I can understand the pirates rounding up the young, pretty women, but one is an old woman who's comforting some of the women on the auction block. The "lady of the evening", in her red dress and hat, boldly showing off her assets, would've been easy to catch. And then there's the 300 pound lady currently up for auction.... I guess if you've been to sea long enough, ANY woman would look pretty good, even if she's older than the hills!
