Just a friendly warning
Hi all, this post is just as the title implies a friendly warning. There are no ill intentions whatsoever so I hope I don't offend anyone. I just wanted to warn the current cast members that post at such message boards such as DISboards, Mice Chat, and Laughing Place Etc. that it is against company policy to post information with regards to the Park. I recently received a verbal on my record for posting information and answers to guest questions about my department Disney Dining on DISboards. I thought I was helping but found out the hard way what I was doing is against company policy. My managers somehow caught wind of my actions and called me into the office. I deleted all my posts there, as well as my account. I notice while reading the boards, there are a lot of cast members that post there, some go as far as to use their nametags as avatars, I'd be very careful what you post as managers and others do check these sites. While I personally would never tell on anybody, as it is not my place, I felt at liberty to at least warn all of you. That being said, I know a lot of you like to eat at our restaurants (especially Blue Bayou) so you are more than welcome to ask for me if you ever have any questions. 714-781-DINE I am more than willing to help and offer advice, all I ask is that you never post anything I offer and especially use my name (Chad). I am one of the few Cast Members left that is not totally jaded so I am always willing to go that extra mile for the person on the other end of the phone.

Re: Just a friendly warning
I got a similiar warning once back in '00 for posting some details regarding a certain attraction on what was then a very small message board. You never know when bigbrother is watching.... :(

Disney can't do CRAP to you if you are posting NOT ON DISNEY TIME. Especially if the information is not confidential. Also, if you are posting an opinion or whatever and you are STILL not on Disney time. They can't do anything either.
If we posted spoilers to Pirates on Thursday when we had the cast preview THEN they could say something. But, if the information is not something like that where the public already know about it (i.e. the Westside of the park is closing at 5:00 PM on June 24th but the rest of the park will stay open until 9:00). They can't do or say anything to you.

They can't do anything to you officially. However, they can essentially force you to transfer or leave the company, as they did with Zazu.

This is probably as good a place as any to ask ... Polar, what are this site's policies with regard to responding from "requests" from management regarding potentially identifying information, such as IP logs? Are there situations where the company has resorted to subpoena-ing to get information? What (if any) information might be shared under those circumstances?

Yeah, apparently!sandravb79 wrote:Did I miss something (posts) re: Zazu?CBeilby wrote:They can't do anything to you officially. However, they can essentially force you to transfer or leave the company, as they did with Zazu.
For clarity, I was not forced to leave my former department, and I have not left the Company. I decided to transfer to a new role because:
1. The new Operating Guidelines are -- in my professional opinion as a railroader of 35 years experience -- badly written, unclear, contradictory, and contain several provisions or contradictions that could lead to unneccesary cast or guest injury. The Company acknowledged that the OG was defective, but elected to impose it anyway.
2. One GSM took personal offense at my 14-page list of objections to the OG, and agitated for my termination (without effect). He also demonstrated a remarkable willingness to say different things about me when I was present than when he thought I wasn't able to hear. He also pulled a no-call/no-show on me twice in two weeks on meetings he set up with me.
3. The Area Manager sent me word through an intermediary that I was, "No longer welcome on Main Street," and terminated the Show Quality program for no clear reason other than to deprive me of that position. (Because the whole program was terminated, my Union was unable to fight for me.)
After all that, who'd want to stay?
So, I've moved from outdoors to indoors, from rain to air conditioning, from labor grade 3 to labor grade 10, and from a dead-end position to one with several likely paths for advancement. Yes, I already miss my trains, the great team of CMs on the railroad, the Show Quality work, and my Main Street home. But I think I'm coming out ahead overall.
Oh, and as for the safety of the Railroad? It's fine. Frankly, I seriously doubt the railroad cast will pay much attention to the new OG. I know I damn sure won't! :D:

Thank you Polar for the support. To those who feel comfortable posting whatever they want on their own time, I just wanted to reiterate that you be careful, because company information is just that, owned by the company. Honestly, I personally would not chance it, as you've probably noticed they've been making it easier and easier to let people go (Even with Union help, in my previous experience with my Union President, I got virtually nothing accomplished!). Again, I'm not trying to sound like I know more than anyone, just wanted to warn people as a sense of camaraderie to my fellow cast members since I did experience the effects of my ignorance.
