Anybody who is a Dilbert fan understands what I mean by the title of this thread...
I find it's one thing when guests make you look like an idiot and don't care, but it's another thing entirely when it's a fellow Cast Member.
If you know Innoventions at all, you know that all the doors on the first floor are entrances and all the exits are on the second floor. We tell the guests this about a hundred times but that doesn't stop them from showing up at one of the downstairs doors thinking it's the exit.
Cast members are allowed to use these doors to exit because we know where they lead us (rotating building, ya know) but we're only supposed to use them when the doors are lined up with backstage. Otherwise, we end up walking out the door in full view of guests, and that's not good show.
Today I was at our usher position just after a ring show started, when I saw a group of about four guests come up to the door. I was just about to tell them the exits were upstairs when a fellow CM stepped right in front of them, opened the doors, and walked right out into the middle of our platform without even bothering to acknowledge the presence of the guests. This, of course, left me with the unfortunate task of telling these guests who can clearly see the park out in front of them that these doors were not, in fact, the exit. (You have to jump rails or cut through the filled portion of the queue to get out from the platform.)
When I was sending the rotation about a half hour later, I just so happened to be bumping the same CM and mentioned something about it. Politely, I thought, but made sure to communicate that it's not a good idea to walk right out the door in front of guests and leave another CM to deal with the guests. The CM just said "we can exit wherever we want" and walked away, without even bothering to understand what I was actually trying to say or even meet me halfway.
ARGH! It's frustrating as hell having to deal with fellow CMs who just can't understand that the friggin' universe doesn't revolve around them.

Yeah, I did. I went to the office a while later and there were three leads there so I told them about it.tskbf2005 wrote:Talk to a supervisor or lead

Most of the time we can resolve CM issues ourselves. Then there are times leads & management must be informed. You did the only wise thing possible PirateJohn. Hope they back you up 100%!! The incident was certainly poor showPirateJohn wrote:ARGH! It's frustrating as hell having to deal with fellow CMs who just can't understand that the friggin' universe doesn't revolve around them.

I agree.PirateJohn wrote:ARGH! It's frustrating as hell having to deal with fellow CMs who just can't understand that the friggin' universe doesn't revolve around them.
I was working Dispatch at BTMR earlier when one of our CMs who was working Grouper attempted to seat a family of three in one row. Now, the seats at BTMR aren't much bigger than a small loveseat, and while that arrangement might work if you have an adult and two children, or two adults and one small child, it's surely not going to work if you have three very large (200+ lbs each) adults.
So anyhoo, the guests quickly discovered they couldn't all fit in the assigned row, and the party had to be split up ('cause Brainiac had already filled the seats behind/in front of the guests). Needless to say, they were pissed.
After the train left the station, I called the CM over. Just loud enough to be heard, I said, "Hey... that party of three? No way they all could have fit in that row. In fact, they were mightly pissed off that they were split up."
The CM looked at me, shrugged, said "I don't care" and walked away.
Sterling work there. And great attitude to boot.
