Animation Studios-Thank you!!!

Post by Perdie » Thu May 25, 2006 4:45 pm

Just wanted to say thanks to Kris and Byron at the animation studios, my husband and I were at DCA over the weekend and we were trying everyday to find a class where they were drawing Goofy, and everyday we missed it. On our last day, Byron offered us a private session with Kris. SO Kris graciously sat with us and taught us how to draw goofy while another class was going on! It was truly a magical moment for us and we really enjoyed it! It made our whole trip-it's cast members like this that make Disney so magical for us!!!! :D:

Also just a FYI

Animation Acadamy Classes are also offered at Disney Quest throughout the day (MM, MN, DD, Pluto, Goofy, and sometimes Mystery Characters)

Also TWDS-Florida (MGM) has the same class set up, but I havent been there to see what characters they draw.

Animation Tour at the Studios draws Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Stitch.

Its funny. A friend who worked with me at Coaster, but now is an animator at the "Animation Academy" says that he gets a lot of these:

Guest: Can we draw Stitch?

CM: Sure.

*Two minutes into drawing Stitch

Guest: Can we draw Mickey?

A lot of people think that Stitch is easy to draw according to him but he's not, and forget teaching a class of drawing stitch at the angle.

Or him in his space suit. . .forget it.

I used to teach Stitch quite a lot at DCA's Animation Academy, but now the only characters you can do there ar Donald, Goofy, Pooh, and Mickey.

And because a certain manager at Hollywood who shall remain clueless is trying to force the CMs there to do shows in about half the time actually necessary (gotta get those $%&#@! counts up!), the artists don't even do Donald or Goofy anymore because it is physically impossible to draw them in the amount of time allotted.

Animation Academy is an attraction that is a sure-fire winner -- Walt himself would have loved the very idea and probably would have proudly sat front-row-center for many shows -- and the incompetent management of Hollywood is completely destroying it by making one inexcusably poor decision after another.

How these people still have jobs is beyond me.

PirateJohn that's a shame because I really loved learning how to draw goofy mickey and donald (didn't get to Pooh). Goofy was the most difficult and my worst drawing-but I didn't care because I had so much fun and couldn't believe at the end of the lesson that I could draw goofy (I have NO CLUE how to draw anything but stick figures).

I hope the management figures it out because I would come back numerous times to draw any character!!! I loved it!

The manager of Animation Academy couldn't figure out two plus two.

Seriously, he's not only destroying it with his incompetent decisions, but is doing so in such a fashion that it will fail and never return. That pisses me off above all else, because it could be a wonderful attraction.
