This man. . .legend, needs no introduction, but for those of you who aren't Disney savvy, Dave Smith is one of the top "Disney Legends" in the history of the word "Disney". He is the founder and director of the Disney Archives located in Burbank, California and is most famous for his "Disney Encyclopedia A-Z" books.
I had the honor and great privilege of sitting in on one of his conversations today at MK and while two hours is a joke (Considering he would need a month straight to cover the history. . .and only get through 20% of it), the stories and photos he had were absolutely amazing.
Here are a few trivia questions for you guys to see just how good your knowledge of Disney history is (Thanks to Dave Smith for these):
1. In what year was the Disney name tag introduced?
2. What was the price of admission for opening day at Disneyland?
3. Which movie was the first to introduce a soundtrack on record?
4. What was the phrase used to describe the first soundtrack (As found on the cover of the soundtrack)?
5. What year did Disney World phase out the "A,B,C,D,E Tickets"?
6. What was the first piece of merchandise that showcased Mickey Mouse?
7. This toy brought what company out of bankruptcy?
10. True or False: For the first few years they were open, The Contemporary and Polynesian Resorts featured different name tags than the Magic Kingdom.
11. How was the snowglobe from Marry Poppins found years after it had been lost in storage?
12. According to his birth certificate, in what year was Walter E. Disney born?
13. In order to join the Red Cross, in what year did Walter E. Disney say he was born?
14. These two people signed Walter E. Disney's papers allowing him to enlist with the Red Cross.
15. According to records, What was date and time Mickey Mouse was born?
This should seperate the Disney Historians from the Disney Casuals.
