OK a question for Expedition Everest CM's

Post by RocketBoatZ15 » Sat Mar 18, 2006 4:47 pm

Hey everyone. Today I was at Space Mt. greeter. A lady was walking past me with her child when I asked to check his height. She said "he rode Expedition Everest! Look at his hand it says Yeti on it!" It was stamped on it in big block letters. I told her I still had to check him and she still kept on mentioning the ride and the stamp. The kid was fine but it was hard to talk to her because she kept on mentioning the stamp. Arrgh! I was trying to tell her that I had no idea why they stamped the child. Also, how we have no stamping system here.

OK the question. What is with the stamp and what is it for? Is it for CM referance? It's the first time I have seen it. thank you. Is it for lost and found or something?

I can't answer your question, but we had a similar experience at Valleyfair in Minnesota. My daughter just made the height, but because it was so close, they put a wrist band on her. We were told that she would still be checked on every ride and if she does not meet the requirement at that particular ride, she wouldn't be able to ride. We were totally fine with that and had a great day. People who push the issue just so their kids can ride are beyond me. There was a guy right behind us who was yelling at the workers because they would not let his child ride. His child was at least 1 inch too short to ride..... yet is was the workers fault... he was an idiot and is a prime example of a stupid guest.

Sorry for going on a tangent, but had to share.

I know that they stamp them for when they go on Kali Rapids. Just at the entrance of the ride. So that when you get to the actual ride itself you know that this kid is able to ride vs. the kid that's only there to swap.

It could also be just a stamp they give to every kid who rides it. At Safaris (and I know a lot of Safaris CMs/Managers went over to Everest) we have a "I saved Big Red" stamp we can put on kids if we have an extra cast member or two and not a position to fill.

Question: Is there a difference of height requirement for Everst and Space?? Or are they both the same?

Thanks for the reply. That sounds like a total possibility over there. We have stamps here at Space Mt. but they are for tagging lost and found for City Hall. ;)

Pretty sure that the "YETI" hand stamp is related to the height check rather than being a "magical moment" type thing, but I'm not exactly sure how they use it. Probably the same way as Kali ... to differentiate between riders and swapping children. Stands to reason ... Everest and Kali are both in Asia, they both have the same managers.

We rode EE with our son and when they checked his height they also gave him a stamp so they knew he was tall enough up at the front of the ride and didn't "bug us to check his height again". That's how the CM explained it to us.

Interesting--I didn't know about the stamps. Definetly keep an eye out for em. We have a stamp at Jungle, but like Space Mountain, it's for Lost and Found. I think we should start stamping kids with "Lost and Found, Adventureland, *date*" It would kinda fit with Jungle theming.
