Re: Celebrities in the Parks
Last March 27, Al Pacino and his entourage/family came to the Calico Railroad while I was conducting. I don't remember if I took the train out with him on it, I'm 95% positive I did, but anyway, after he and his group rode in the train (wanna sit in his seat? Calico car, front of car by the door leading to the baggage compartment where the bandits sit after robbing the train, backward-facing seat at the window, left side as you're standing in the train facing towards the locomotive), I think they took another trip, but this time Mr. Pacino rode in the locomotive cab--and believe me, you really do have to be somebody special to ride there! Little room, it's 10-15 degrees hotter than the outside air tempeture, and you really better watch your step. Anyway, after he went out the exit gate, he passed me, and I have to be brutally honest with you--THAT DUDE HAD B.O.! I was thinking, man, all your money, staff helping you out, and you still can't find time to take a bath and use deodarant? A couple of days after that, I was told that the Wayan Brothers were in the park, but I didn't see them. Oh, now I remember--I wasn't conductor on Mr. Pacino's ride, or at least not when he rode in the train car; maybe when he rode in the locomotive cab. But whenever I had a celebrity on board, I didn't broadcast the fact we had a special passenger. I would wait until some time after they were gone to remark to a guest that a celeb had been on board. One time we had a concert at the Calico Courthouse (no train rides, just crowd control), Ashlee Simpson performed right near the end. If there's anyone here who is an Ashlee Simpson fan, please don't hate me when I say this, but I have listened to a great many different singers in my day, and though I'm not a musician or singer, I have to say that Ashlee has a very nice voice, but I didn't hear any heart in her songs. She was just mouthing words; the songs didn't sound like they meant anything to her, it was like her manager handed her some songs that somebody who didn't even know her had written, and told her to practice them because she was going to be performing them in public. If you've ever heard someone sing a song that they've written about an experience they've had, or that moved them deeply, you'll know what I mean.

Frankly, I agree with you. I see the whole music industry that way these days --people aren't interested in making music nearly so much as they are in making a marketable product.gurgi wrote:dont get me started on that "music" garbage she puts out. hahahah

All thanks to "Daddy." Her sister comes off as a ditz, her movie bombed, yet the family is raking in the money. Why and how?PirateJohn wrote:Frankly, I agree with you. Ashlee's "incident" on SNL was hysterical. The truth came out, and what really pissed me off was she actually had the gall to blame the band.
Take a look at her performance rider: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/04 ... son_1.html Notice the rider describes her four-piece band's "orchestration" thusly: "Drums, Bass, 2 Guitars, and pre-recorded sequences operated by the drummer."

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

in my opinion what the band was really thinking before they played...
"guys we better bring the cd, this girl couldnt sing if her pants were on fire with no way to put it out...and frankly..even her lipsync skills are questionable."
besides...if it really was the band's fault....erm wouldnt they get the "gimme that contract back!!!" treatment?

Re: Celebrities in the Parks
I knew there was a similar thread to this one (same topic) awhile back.
Here's the link :holmes: http://www.stupidguesttricks.com/vb3/sh ... ge=5&pp=10
My full celebrity list is there. -But 3 of my favorite encounters was with James Earl Jones, (actually have a picture with him) Will Wheaton, (used the Sweetums Greenroom bathroom and then wanted to know all about what we did in the show -tried on a Sweetums head too) and Bill Farmer -the voice of Goofy.
When 'A Goofy Movie' made it's premier in 1995, I got to work with Bill to promote the movie LIVE via satellite doing about 12 to 15 interviews in about 3 hours. (Long Story...brace yourself.)
This was the first time something like this had ever been attempted.
I met Bill the day before the shoot to get aquainted, discuss the movie, the possible questions we may be asked, and our responses. It didn't take long to establish a rapport. He's very easy-going. The way the interview worked was a bit technical. I performed in front of a green screen sitting in a director's chair with pretaped footage of the Disney/MGM studios being superimposed in the background. I had an IFB headset in my ear underneath the costume so I could hear all the questions being asked from whatever TV station we were being interviewed by, and a small screen monitor next to my feet out of camera view so I could always check my eyeline and make sure Goofy was looking straight into the camera. They also cranked up the AC on the soundstage so the temperature in the room was around 40 degrees. -That way I was comfortable, and could stay in costume the whole time. Bill sat just behind the camera out of view, with a mic in one hand and another IFB in his ear. Whenever we went LIVE and were asked a question, Bill would answer, while I moved accordingly to make it look like Goofy was talking. It worked great! -after about 2 interviews, I knew exactly what Bill was going to say, and he knew exactly how I was going to move. Goofy was truly alive and talking! At the begining of the morning we had about 5 technicians, a costumer, and a supervisor. By the end of final interview, we had about 25 people all hudled into the tiny soundstage watching. Just about every supervisor on Studio Property was crammed in the soundbooth laughing their butts off! (News travels fast when something out of the ordinary is going on at the studios.) Anyways, it was a huge amount of fun, and after we took a break, we did the handprint ceremony. After that, Bill actually talked to his publicist and asked if I could go to the premiere at PI AMC12. (It was still only 12 theaters back then.) I got a special pass and was able to invite one other person. -my girlfriend at the time. We actually got to walk the red carpet, although no one knew who we were, so we didn't get hit by paparazzi or autograph hounds. It was a very...surreal moment. -but one of the coolest things I've ever done, and one of the nicest celebs I've ever met & worked with.
