Turnstiles

Post by PirateJohn » Sat Feb 18, 2006 11:48 pm

Why do people assume turnstiles in the park are one-way only?

I had a guy trying to leave my attraction, so instead of checking whether the turnstiles would turn the other direction, he decided to climb over it. I yelled pretty quickly, but before I could get to him, he did a face plant right into the concrete.

"I just wanted to get out," he said as he got up.

Then how come you didn't walk through the turnstile? The least you could do is actually ATTEMPT to walk through it before you try to make like a mountain climber and you would have had a much easier time.

Wow. Just wow.

Turnstiles aren't embarassing. Faceplanting is.

Guest: "How fast does this go?"
Me: "88 mph"

Guest: "Which row is the least wet?"
Me: "Row 6." (There are only 5 rows in the boat)

When I was a kid, I think it was at it's a small world, the line was stopped and I was right in front of a turnstile. I started to play with it by turning it the opposite direction and it got stuck. I got scared thinking I had broken it, but the CM just turned it one way or another!

I should also add...

This happened at Innoventions. My usual spiel involves telling guests on the platform what technologies they will see, then as the platform passes, I start up again with, "now I've been telling you just a small number of the technologies you will find inside our building. Now I'll tell you about one you won't find... Restrooms." And then continue with the rest of the rules of the building.

When the SG in question had left the area, I restarted my spiel with, "and there are two technologies you won't find. As we've demonstrated, we do not have hover technology in this building..."

Not a day goes by at the exits without a guest standing at the turnstile asking "how do I get out?" So, yeah, I feel your pain.

Last yr. I did such a perfect Faceplant! Even CFA was totally impressed :o: Tore a huge part of my knee & ruined a Disney costume. An SUV stroller nailed me. The sting was brutal  , but after CFA's magic & a clean costume I went back onstage. Should have gone home. My loyalty is very misguided.

Several times ive tried to exit through turnstiles and they dont let you. They have only gone one way. I have never seen them go both ways before.

Um...first time for everything? and even if it didn't go both ways, why would anyone try to jump it? I'm sure there's an exit somewhere nearby that doesn't involve an obstacle course...how `bout asking for direction from a CM? Ah well, nothing like slapstick to give everyone except the victim a good laugh, right? Anywho, King, let me be the first to throw one of Zazu's smilies at you: :welcome:

That's why I give a demonstration that a turnstile can go both ways. I know I am evil  , but I laugh when a guest decides to go through a "LOCKED" turnstile at HISTA!!! Muahahaha!!! Either if they are enering or exiting, then after, I unlock it for them if they want to exit.

Space Ranger at Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
