Severe RNR Coaster Guest Stupidity
All my time at RNR Coaster I thought I saw it all…until this day. For any of you that have ridden the coaster you would notice it is a Limo with 12 rows of seats. The seats are quite noticeable and every seat has a large harness type device over it. Simple enough, you would think? Each limo has 6 sections (four seats) with a connector between the sections. These connectors have NO SEATS in them and are “open air”. Anyone guess where I am going with this yet? The limo pulls up, the grouping gates open and away the guests go. In this group there was a middle aged woman. She is not paying too much attention to what she is doing and is very concerned about her children’s harness being tight enough. Suddenly you hear a scream. This lady decides that the big open area between the cars looks like a great place to sit down. Down she drops (no I am not kidding). She catches herself on some mechanism before she drops down all six feet. But she drops far enough down that she can not get herself back out. This turns the ride 1-0-1 for the next 2 hours. Because of this Darwin Award finalist, the engineers have to spend the next 2 hours attempting to figure out how to get her out of the abyss without damaging the electronics or mechanics. They finally get her out. She had a few minor bumps and scratches and one HUGE bruised ego.
I have no idea what happened to this person after they left the ride. Unfortunately, due to our current legal system, she probably owns a considerable part of the park by now.

Didn't the same thing happen at USF on the Mummy attraction? Some idiot fell between the cars, so they had to put gates up that opened right to the car. IE: there is no open area from the guest queue to the train/cars.

I like Mark Twain's way of saying it:leftcoaster wrote:It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenious - Murphy

I was off the day that it happened, but know the story well: the guywas trying to keep his seat as the one nearest the loading gate. Instead of waiting in the gate for the others to board, then him getting the seat, he goes in, stands on the side (where there is no big gate at the time), loses his balance, and falls into the track. The ride is then E-stopped. Because of this, they had to add an extra safety position wherever there were loading gates.leftcoaster wrote:Didn't the same thing happen at USF on the Mummy attraction? It's bad enough that they guy was disabled and needed a wheelchair, but his wife sent him into the queue WITHOUT his wheelchair.
Guest: "How fast does this go?"
Me: "88 mph"
Guest: "Which row is the least wet?"
Me: "Row 6." (There are only 5 rows in the boat)

Seriously people need to learn how to tell the difference between a big open space and a sit. That would almost be like me going to sit on TOT and sitting on one of the steps in the car. Hmmmm, that sounds like something I should try next time I can go play. :) just kiddingRNRCoasterDude wrote:All my time at RNR Coaster I thought I saw it all… until this day. I've had to stop a few people from trying to step onto the plate in between Doom Buggies at the Mansion.

It gets better. She actually had a DNR for him on her. Who would go to a theme park with a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate)?CerasiJ wrote:Wha... what...?

Stopped the ride because people were STANDING on the safety plate. Physically pulled children off the safety plate. People its not THAT dark in there.
