Rope Drop Hell
hey, i'm new to the board (linked over from WDWmagic.com and found this site very compelling). I'm a CP (soon to be FT) at Spaceship Earth in Epcot. I was wondering if anyone had any interesting Rope Drop stories. Last weekend (11/12), we had about 1000-2000 people at our rope drop (it was crowded due to Veteran's Day, SuperSoap Weekend, and the last weekend Food & Wine), and the character bus that starts the rope drop came out about 1 minute late. At 9:00 sharp, this woman at the front of the crowd got all irate, telling me "You need to tell your managers that there are thousands of people out here and that they need to get this park open". Yeah, like they can't tell. I calmly explained that we were waiting on our special guests, and she went on to complain, and then told me that there was a sick boy behind her. She stepped out of the way, and I saw that we had a kid who had a protein spill all over the ground, right in the middle of the crowd, where everyone would have to stop. I sighed, shook my head, and went over to find someone with a radio to call a custodial manager, but by that time, the character bus started to come out, and I had to rush back to take care of the rope and poles. I didn't see that woman again (thank goodness), but I bet she was one of the ones complaining of her stupidity to choose to visit the park on a very crowded weekend.
Any other interesting stories from Rope Drop?

Well, it isn't so much rope drop hell per se, but some interesting rope drop stories...
I dunno, didn't really have any rude guests, but they always ran towards Test Track (my CP was Fall Advantage 2002), so we announced loud to the crowd the quickest way VIA WALKING towards Test Track, didnt bother about anything else.
Ooh, and I saw one too many guests with Star Trek uniforms on. I didnt even bother to ask why.

You know, with all the Trekkies in the world, I am really, totally surprised they haven't build their own theme park yet. I mean, LEGOS have their own theme park, for crying out loud!Dack48 wrote:Ooh, and I saw one too many guests with Star Trek uniforms on. I didnt even bother to ask why.

Re: Rope Drop Hell
When I used to work in TBT at BGT I sometimes had to do the rope dropping from Kenya to the back of the park. Usually it was a 15 minute delay but the people got plenty upset.
However during HOS this year I had it bad, when I got the privilage of guarding the TBT tower leading out of TBt and into the rest of the park. The park closed at 5 and was cleared. Then at 7pm guests with GREEN WRISTBANDS could go through. They got 30 minutes early access for upgrading to the Fright Feast Dinner Show. Then at 7:30, or whenever the gates opened up front determined when we let the gguests through. Every single time I had to guard the tower people always fought and tried to force their way through. People would try bullying me since I'm only 17, and usually up there by myself. So that was fun. Luckily around 7:15 or so Managers and Supes would hopefully had made their way up there, so they got the blunt of it.

Aren't Starfleet uniforms pretty much unisex anyway? :p:LaughingGravy wrote:Umm...you are a woman, right?
