I'm only a couple of weeks late, but I thought it would only be fair to bring up that October 5 was the 50th anniversary of the Disneyland Hotel.
So all the original buildings that were there in 1955 have been torn down, as were a lot of the stores, restaurants, amenities, and attractions (yes, attractions) that people associated with the hotel over the years, and Disney has only owned the hotel since 1988. But it's still an important part of Disneyland history, and the fact that it, too, is still going strong after 50 years is a testament to Walt Disney, Jack and Bonita Wrather (the original owners of the hotel), and all of us hotel CMs, past and present.
I didn't think there would be much of a mention of the hotel's 50th anniversary, but we got pins and buttons, a party in the ballroom, and an issue of the Line all dedicated to the anniversary. I know that work gets me down a lot, but I can truly say I'm glad to have been a part of both Disneyland and the Disneyland Hotel's 50th anniversaries.
Happy 50th Anniversary Disneyland Hotel!
