Stalkarazi?

Post by BirdMom » Wed Sep 07, 2005 12:19 am

So when I got home from school tonight (p.s. StDuck, where are you?), it's all over the news that Reese Witherspoon was trying to visit DCA when some psycho photog beat up either A) a tour guide or B) a security host?

What the hell is going on? I mean, I remember flashbulb hell with Michael Jackson, but it seems to me that the pro photogs used to leave the famous people alone to go about their business in the park. Are they paying admission to stalk their prey now? What's the deal?

And I hope whoever got smacked is o.k. I've was hit by more than one jerk guest during my 11 years, and it was no fun...

Hmm.

I don't like to lump all photographers/papparazzi into one category. I think some of them do their job without harming anyone. I think that if you are a celebrity and you are out in public you have to accept people taking photos of you everywhere you go. That's part of being a celebrity. If you don't like it, get a job as a computer programmer.

But I think we can all agree that physically assaulting a celebrity, their family members or their bodyguard is way out of line.

Don't the celebrities need a chance to be treated like everybody else?? They need no special treatment. They are just like you and me!! I think they need to experience what it is like to be a stupid guest, hehehe!! They also need to experience what it is like to be in an agrument with a CM.

I couldn't disagree more. Just because you act for a living doesn't automatically give people the right to treat you like a piece of meat.

We're trained as CMs to tell guests who expect visiting celebs to stop for an autograph or picture, "they're guests of the park. They are not working right now."

I totally agree. It's not fair that they get practically mobbed every single time they go into public. Personally, it makes me mad when people treat them that way. They are human beings for cryin out loud. They have a life outside of work jsut like we all do. Unfortunately they can't always enjoy it with people climbing over them. :(

Yeah, I ran into Stitch at the grocery store the other day and he couldn't shop for all he was getting mobbed. Jeez, the poor guy just wanted to pop in for some coconut cake mix and a can of Folgers and people just wouldn't leave him alone!

Hi, guys...former DCA castmember here...just something that came to my mind while lurking on this thread -

My brother is actually a stunt guy in Hollywood and has met dozens of celebrities...the key to his success in getting jobs that others crave? His motto is "Treat the celebrity like the average joe...and the average joe like a celebrity!"

It's worked so far...and his paychecks prove it!

I always thought that was a smart way to handle those "celebrity sightings"...now if only the "average joe" AP (or stalkarazi) could just get that through their thick skulls!
