Guests Wearing DL Costumes/nametags

Has anyone seen regular guests (not CMs) wearing pieces of costumes from DLR? I have seen many costumes/pieces on Ebay and it makes me wonder what low lives they are to steal OUR costumes! Then, DL Costuming has the gall to blame CMs and dock their paychecks because of thieves! I'm no fool when it comes to people wearing clothing NOT authorized for them to wear!

When I was still working at DL, I have seen people wearing current nametags like one girl wore one that she bought from a store in the Westminster Mall !

One day, I was at DCA and saw a person wearing a jacket custodial CMs wore
(navy blue) and it was hard to tell if this was a cast member or a scary AP who is OBSESSED with DL.

Can't security throw the blaggards out and/or confiscate the costume pieces if they enter our parks? Reason; looking like a Cast Member when they obviously are not.

Back in the day, it used to be considered sport to sneak parts of costumes or entire costumes out of the park, especially just before Halloween. I can remember being at a club in Huntington Harbor, seeing a couple of guys in the full conductor outfits, not to mention Pirates and Columbia guys at private costume parties. I can remember going to one Halloween party in particular at the home of the former director of in-house Entertainment, and he and his wife were both in full area costumes (she was wearing Fantasyland Merch. and he was in a Pirate costume) - I'm sure since he was an executive that costume issue never questioned it. I don't see the big deal about temporarilly "borrowing" a costume for a party, or a souvinir if the area costumes are being changed. I just think selling them on eBay is low. And for non-CM's to wear them inside a park is just beyond my comprehension - are they asking to be abused or yelled at by the unsuspecting guests - or do they want to sneak onto property for free? Or is it just another way of somehow being "above" the average guest, i.e. another one of "those" know-it-all "passholes?"

I once had a black jacket stolen right from the Pirates dock. I was standing right next to the stinking thing the whole time and some jerk stole it right there. They never found the guy either.

Ugh!

At least costuming didn't give me a hard time about it, but I did have to buy a new nametag.

I would hope so. I would think that these kinds of things are stopped at the main gate.

But I do also know that during the Halloween party here at WDW's MK, we all have to keep a eye out for guest who are dressed in princes gear better then our princesses costume going around signing autographs and what not.

I'm just a stupid guest, but after reading about the "Disney Point," in a book, I started making an effort to point with two fingers. However, I refrain from doing so on Disney property.

Here's a question, though, that I have never gotten a good answer to. From what I understand, one of the reasons for pointing with two fingers is that pointing with one finger is offensive in some cultures. Which cultures find pointing with one finger offensive?

The reason we have the Disney point stems back into Walt Disney tradition. Walt himself would use two fingers to point with, and so it became tradition for disney employees.
