Theme park employment jumping
Hey everybody. I recently had a friend get fired from WDW and I told him to come work for me in Miami. He declined the offer but insted went to Universal Orlando for work. I want to know if anybody in here has worked for one theme park, then went to work for another? And if you did it why did you go work for another after you left? From what I can tell, at least in Florida, these parks don't really compete with eachother. This is just something I'm curious about, because when I left WDW I quickly got another job outside of the industry.

Re: Theme park employment jumping
I've known a small number of people at the park who previously worked at Knott's Berry Farm. I don't know why they jumped, but it might have had to do with the better pay and/or work environment. My girlfriend worked at Six Flags before she worked at Disneyland, but she had moved to Fullerton before leaving Six Flags and I guess she went to Disneyland because it was closer and she wanted to stay in the theme park environment.

Re: Theme park employment jumping
I know one guy who was fired at WDW, got a job at Universal and was fired there, and now is back at WDW.
I also know of several people who work at Disney 2 or 3 days and work at Universal 3 or 4 days a week. I just met a new ride op hire yesterday that came from Space Mountain to work at Universal. I asked her why as she had been at Disney for a few years. She told me that she came for the working envioronment and the comp tickets. Several family members still work at WDW and so she can get in free there. She wanted Universal comp tickets for her family.
The pay is about the same so most I have met have jumped theme parks because they weren't getting enough hours at WDW or because of unhappy work situations.

I used to work at Legoland seasonally. Then I used to live down in North San Diego County. (my parents still do) I live up near Disneyland now. So I work there, I had a friend who refered me. DL pays better then LL, same job different venue (Kinda I worked foods at LL and when I hired at DL I was only interested in Attractions)

KBF, and DLR seem to trade attrations workers, most people i know that are no longer at disneyland, either aren't working right now b/c of school/marriage/major move, or are at KBF, and as for them, several former leads and trainers, and potential leads and trainers are now at Disneyland.

Went from Knotts to Disney (was a temp for Knotts for over 2 yrs working as a rides mech! and got tired of it) a lot of people bounce back and forth. People that go to Knotts are happy because of the freedom of there scheduling, people that go to Disney are happy because of benefits and money! it all works out in the end.
