So I'm standing in line wating for the one open window at the CSULB cashier's office and there is this woman (with her *adult* daughter) going off on the poor girl sitting behind the bullet proof glass. She was all over the cashier about the university's refund policy, saying the catalogue was misleading, that the information regarding the difference between summer session and regular terms was nearly impossible to find, etc. Every time it appeared she was going to calm down, she'd find something else to bitch about and go off on this girl all over again.
I was ready to say "hey, lady, why are you picking on someone who has no control over the policy?" However, she was tall and big. One of those women who looked like she would have made a healthy farm wife in the mid-west. Anyway, she looked like she could beat the crap out of me, so I kept my mouth shut.
And in the meantime, I'm thinking why does this young lady need mommy to fix her problem? It's her own damn fault she didn't get her paperwork in on time. Did she think her mother going off on the cashier was going to magically fix everything or change the uni's policy?
So why do people insist on bagging on someone who has absolutely no say or control over an institution's policies and procedures? It's like the people who go off on Foods or Merchandise for the prices, like some little Seasonal can snap her fingers and make the prices go back down by 50%. I have no doubt this woman would be going off on someone inside the park for too many people being around for the parade or fireworks and interfering with her view!

Re: They're everywhere
I had a stupid employee CSULB trick. So warped tour was here at CSULB on the 1st. I still live on campus (grumble) and had to go to LA for a project. I get home and there is NO WHERE to park. I tore into the idiot parking people cause I wanted to go home and I pay to park on campus (unlike the people at the concert) I had also circled 3 lots already and was cranky, well they did find me a spot but it took 20 minutes.
So Birdmom how goes the summer school classes?

ROFL :D: Love the way you describe her BirdMom. A closed mouth was perhaps your wisest & safest choice. I've heard "farm wife" can severly hurt when crossed ]BirdMom wrote: I was ready to say "hey, lady, why are you picking on someone who has no control over the policy?" However, she was tall and big. Hmmm...looks like the SGT idea has caught on in retail! Hee! Well, they need a place to vent as well.
Stduck, I decided to drop the class. It's not worth it to try and cram 36 weeks worth of work into 9 weeks. It just was not working for me, and the more I stressed over information retention, the less I remembered. I actually slept last night (!). It's just as well - it's better not to go into the new Fall semester burned out and exhausted from one class. I'm seriously considering dropping Archeology from my schedule - I was looking forward to it, but it's not required for me to graduate, and once I'm done with my primary goal of my degrees in A.H., I can always go back for a Masters in Classics. I really have to think about my limits.

Good idea. Did you have to take Issues in the Arts? Or have you taken it? I just finished it this summer, now onto a life painting class.
Well at least we know that SGTs exist outside of DL.

Was that one Art 320? It's not required for AH majors. We had to do Theory and Criticism instead, with Chris Miles. A ton of reading, and if you take 309, it starts with 19th century philosophy - Kierkegaard, Goethe, Balzac... It's not bad, but the readings are dense and must be digested in small chunks, otherwise your head will explode!Stduck wrote:Did you have to take Issues in the Arts? Or have you taken it? I miss my studio classes! Dug out an old sketchbook and pencils last night and started drawing again because I miss it.

Yeah that's 320 with Chris. It was interesting to say the least.BirdMom wrote:Was that one Art 320? It's not required for AH majors. We had to do Theory and Criticism instead, with Chris Miles.
