ARG!!! Why must these people make it so difficult?!

Post by Anthony » Mon Jul 04, 2005 1:01 am

I was guarding an exit-only tent around the bag check area and this guy and his girlfriend try to enter through the wrong side. I ask them, "Hi. Can I help you?" The guy says "My family is on the other side. I want to go through." I tell him, " This is an exit only. But, you can enter through that tent over there and you're free to come in." Then he says "But I just need to get over to my family!!" So I say again, "Okay. All you have to do is enter through that bag check tent over there and you can come in to meet your family." Then for some reason he just stands off to the side with his girlfriend. I'm watching people coming out of the tent and he's still just standing there looking at his family on the other side. Then one guest comes over to ask me a question and I see that guy and his girlfriend darting over while I got my back turned. I know pretty much by this time that they're not going to go back around to the correct bag check tent since they're already in so I have to run after them and say to the girl, "HEY!!! HEY YOU!!! I NEED TO CHECK YOUR BAG." And the guy says "HER BAG IS EMPTY! WHAT THE F*** IS YOUR PROBLEM?!"

Gaaahhhh.... my problem?! I think it's more like what's his problem? Geez... these people gotta make it so difficult when in the same amount of time he was just standing there he could've already gone in through the other bag check tent which really wasn't that far away. GARRRRR!!!!!

You would think that the guests would prefer to do what's easiest for themselves and for us. But no, they have to do the hard thing to piss us and themselves off.

Kinda like what scheduling does.

[btw I hope you called your lead and security - I sure would have]

they should have some cops there or something, some of the bag checkers are less intimidating than the wal-mart greeters.

As much as I would have liked to, I couldn't since there weren't any there at the moment and I couldn't leave my tent. Ah, the joy of having to work alone...

Apparently, Universal has cops or some sort of badged security doing that.

I'm not sure about the theme park, but I know Universal has an outside contracted security company providing security for CityWalk.

Not sure about Orlando, but the same security company provides services in the park and on Citywalk in Hollywood.

Its rare if I dont encounter at least one guest that makes things more difficult than it should. I work at Strollers and Wheelchair rentals, the most difficult guests are the ones that rent the ECVs (Electric Scooters).

OOOH someone who works at Strollers in Florida!! I look forward to hearing more stories! I don't work there anymore but I still have a ton of stories to share.

I agree, ECV guests make the job the most difficult. Our job would be 10 times easier if it weren't for those things. Of course they made for some fun clearing strollers at the end of the night.
