Tailoring

Post by Wizard69 » Sun Jun 19, 2005 2:44 am

I had a guest come into the Emporium and ask at the Goofy counter "Do you put the name on the Mickey ears here?" I told them "They put the name on at the Mad Hatter" They replied "But it says you do tailoring" (There is a Tailoring sign above the register at Goofy counter).

Last week my friend had a guest come ask if we could mend their pants. (because of the tailoring sign again).

When I worked at the Emporium I used to always get kids come in and ask where the video arcade was (referring to the "Crystal Arcade" sign outside).

Just goes to show that there are a small number of guests that actually read the signs. They just read them wrong.

Actually, the Crystal Arcade used to be an arcade. I remember well, because when we were kids and went to Disneyland with my grandparents my cousin spent most of the day there. I never could figure out why he'd rather play video games than go on the rides, but I guess most people didn't go in there so it got taken out.

I remember when it had the flip book movies. You'd drop a dime in, look through the eyespots, and turn a crank. It was usually some old Charlie Chaplin routine.

^^I thought that was the Penny Arcade. I remember it being an arcade too before they expanded Candy Palace into its space. I don't remember Crystal Arcade ever being a video arcade.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy back when, before parts of the Hotel property got torn down for Downtown Disney, there used to be a shop called Sir Edwards for Men, and all the Disney exectutives got their suits and tailoring done there. There were these two darling Italian ladies who were the tailors - one of them altered my wedding dress. So, the company did used to offer tailoring - you just had to know where to go ]some[/I] guests are actually reading the signs. It almost gives me hope!

The Penny Arcade was where the flip books, shock machines, etc. were all kept. The Crystal Arcade used to have a Crystal blower right in the middle that you could see from the street.

Hope that's as clear as mud....
