A Sore Subject

Post by sledspace » Tue Mar 15, 2005 9:56 pm

Ok, here is the question that has been bugging me for the last 2 years as a cast member, what is the idea of the landlock? It seems like management thought it was a good idea but, as we all know, the RO's don't. I really haven't asked my managers but I brought it up once and they sort of gave a bogus answer and then changed the subject. Something about getting the know their cast better, when in fact they haven't (at least for me). It just seems to be a pointless. What are your thoughts about it?

Sorry if this was already a topic from before but I didn't find one.

The "Landlock" keeps CM's from working in different areas of the park. Like working Huanted Mansion, Honey And Jungle Cruise. It's pick one not all. The land Lock doesn't stop someone in a Tommorowland Costume from walking into Frontierland, although they would stick out like a sore thumb and be reprimanded.

Landlocking is a crock of shit. It doesn't do shit but piss off the cast members. If there is an open shift, why not fill it?? But then again, this is Disney.. they're like any corporation..fucking stupid in their lack of thinking.

It's my understanding that besides the whole get to know your cast better thing, it was just easier to know who knew what and schedule people, especially when you're calling in. When there was no landlock there were still several different stage schedulers and if they needed to say pull someone from Small World to fill an Indy shift it could get a bit confusing for them I'm sure. For a while it was a west/east side thing, and rumors are that it may go back to that, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks everybody. A Eastside/Westside landlock would make more sense (at least I think so). Then again I'm not a manager and why would they want to do something that makes sense? I always thought it would be cool to work at Disneyland because you could learn all the attraction but with a lock it just makes it boring and monotonous.

Maybe our new President will do something...

Its stupid cause some lands are overstaffed and others arent. CC was dying for hours but yet I heard in some other lands people were pulling overtime!

Yeah, I heard this whole land locking thing was to put a CM in one area so just in case another attraction needs an extra CM, because they might be short or something and the other attraction is overstaffed, then they have a means to pull that CM to another attraction. Yeah, I hope this landlocking doesn't stick, I would love to work in other areas!! Also, if you work like "Honey", Astro, and Auto, then you are very easy to be pulled because the costumes are the same. Monorail, Buzz, and Star Tours on the otherhand, have to go baclk to costuming, change costumes, and walk back to the attractions!!!

Attractions:
Rocket Scientist at "HISTA"/ Astro Orbitor,
Space Ranger at Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters

Fantasmic!
The POD
RDCT Fireworks
From June 28, 2003 To October 4, 2006 - Once A DL CM, Always A DL CM!
