No, that ticket is NOT your fastpass!

Post by Morrigoon » Mon Jul 28, 2003 5:11 am

No, that ticket is NOT your fastpass, it merely helps you to get one! And no, you still can't use this line until you have an actual valid fastpass in your grimy little paw. And you're a castmember? Jeeez....

Two girls with green IDs come up our SAP queue and hold out the blue barcode cards "The lady said these were our fastpasses." Uh, no they're what you use to get fastpasses. See, if you take a moment to inspect the back of your ahemGREENloserID'S, you'll notice that it does not contain the type of barcode which will allow you to get a fastpass. However just because you have an ID that gets you in the parks free, does not mean that you're automatically given other special privileges, like, say, unlimited fastpasses. Oh, and by the way, this isn't the fastpass queue, so you'll have to go single rider or walk all the way back out and get in the standby line with all the other yahoos because we've been out of fastpasses since 6:30.

(Our training is poor enough these days, who knows how little the vendors' people are being taught!)

It doesn't help that the ticket takers almost invariably refer to the re-ads as "fastpasses," I'm sure.

What about those guests that insist that they paid extra to be able to get a fastpass?!
I had a guy who was from Australia, or some where, get really upset because he paid extra to be able to get fastpasses. He was mad because he had tried to get one for Screamin', but already had one for I think Mullholand. He needed to wait one more hour to get another fastpass. Well, he tells me that he didn't want the fastpass that was being handed out at that time because it was later than when he had originally tried to get one. I tried to explain to him that in order to keep the fastpass line, we had to keep changing the return time. He said that he paid extra for his ticket in order to get fastpasses that he shouldn't have to wait. I naturally asked to see his ticket. He had bought a one day park-hopper. I began to explain to him that what he had paid extra for was to be able to go into both parks for the day, and that Fastpasses came standard with every ticket, that it was no extra cost. He said that he wouldn't have gotten it if he knew that, and grabbed the ticket out of my hand and stormed off.

The thing is too, if he had been nicer about it, I probably would have given him rider switch passes or something, because he was genuinely confused about the pricing on his ticket. But there's another lesson for people, rudeness gets you no where!!

At least in WDW we do not have a 1-day park hopper ticket. But when I worked at Space Mtn, and Coaster I would at least once a day get a guest that claimes that his admission ticket is also a fastpass ticket. When I got the guest that claims that they paid extra for a ticket so that they can get fastpasses it ususally was bought at some off Disney property ticket seller that I wouldn't trust anyways. I don't know if they have them so much in Califorina, but here in Orlando, they are on every block in the tourist district.

Also I remember when fastpass was first introduced at WDW there was so much confusion about when you can get another one, and it didn't print on the tickets if, or where you have another one.

It's illegal for people to resell tickets in California so you only see tickets sold on Ebay and at Disney authorized retailers like the good neighbor hotels.

It's illegal in Florida too, but that doesn't stop folks.

"I'm very sorry sir, but your tickets have had all the days used already."

"That's impossible! I just bought them this morning!"

"Where did you buy them, sir?"

"Some guy with a van on I-Drive...."

That's not entirely true. True there isnt a pass that can be bought like that but a one park-one day pass can also be upgraded for entrance to another park on the same day, so in a way, we do have it, just not really known.

I know here at the Studios we've been dealing with a new instant fastpass. (Coldfire, not sure if youve heard of this)

Basically its to give cast members more trouble. Any attraction with the fastpass system can give this hell card out (at least at the studios) and what it does is gives you acess to ANY Fastpass attraction (Meaning theres no name of an attraction on the pass, only the time).

But dont waste your time trying to find one just to have something to do, its one in every 2,000.

I hate to say it but a former manager of mine was so gun ho about getting that hell ticket implimented at the studios. It's the same person that said that
CDS would work at the movie ride.

Although I didn't know about the being able to upgrade your ticket once in the park.

Surprise FP (Found at Mission: SPACE and Test Track) 3. Instant Fastpass (Any FP attraction you wish).
