Re: New Nametags?
I wasn't expecting ours to be super extravigant to begin with since its a Disneyland celebration and not really for WDW (If you get what Im saying).
Im sure when EPCOT has their 25th (or is it 30th in like 07 or around then), we'll see, one a new ride, and two a new name tag of some sort that will be nice for WDW (And we'll definately get DLs version when WDW hits its 50th)
But about the hometown things, yeah, to that person its a big deal but in all reality, how many people do you get on a regular basis that come up and look at your tag just for the location (Hell, mine shouldnt say Orlando, FL. but it should say Walt Disney World, literally since I like live at the parks in that when Im working, Im there, obviously, but when Im not, Im there goofin off)
Still aggrivates me that we dont get a HM on ours....lousy bastard nametag designers...Oh well, heres hoping on the next one.

I actually enjoyed the whole hometown thing. For CP's, its their college. Great promotion for the program, and thats actually found out about the CP. During my trip in 99, saw a CM with a College instead of a hometown; inquired why; she said she was doing the College Program, and I looked at it when I came back to Rochester and I was hooked.IndyandMarion wrote:

But for guests, its thrilling to see someone from their hometown working at Walt Disney World! Outside of Florida, to see a WDW CM is rare. I often get "You work for Disney! WOW!" When I was down for a week in 2003, I did not have my Where Magic Lives nametag yet- Campus Reps would get them later. For the week I was in Lake Buena Vista, I was Tom from Chester, PA. You would think, who would be from Chester? I have never heard of such a place! Believe it or not, I ended up meeting so many guests from Chester, and they were thrilled that one of their own was able to work for Disney. Really made their day.
~Innoventions- its many things, but theres one thing its not, its Na-Ta-Ride!~

I can just hear the passholders now.Polar33 wrote:Amusing...that image links to a file on a hard drive, not to one uploaded to the portal server.
Anyway, here's what Disneyland's nametags will look like:
"OMIGOSH!!! Are they going to have a cast member only cloisonne pin with that on it? Can you get me one? I know you're allowed to buy 5 and I'll pay you in advance for all five, plus I'll give you my rare '87 Mickey/CocaCola/Marilyn Monroe pin that's super exclusive. Please, please, please?"

Oh thank goodness! Now I don't have to worry about wearing a tag that marks me as "Class of 1999"! (Some of my former students were *teaching* the class of 1999.)IndyandMarion wrote:Here is the WDW version....

Must have come up about six times yesterday, but that was a 12-hour shift. Typical for me, about 2/hour.IndyandMarion wrote:But about the hometown things ... in all reality, how many people do you get on a regular basis that come up and look at your tag just for the location...?
Why do you ask? Doesn't anyone want to talk to you about O-town?

Re: New Nametags?
Hence me not wearing year pins, my hometown, or wanting my hire date on my name tag... though at least I'll have my rehire date rather than my hire date there. I want the option of pleading ignorance.

Re: New Nametags?
Zaz, why are you worried about a 1999? If anyone would be saying that line, it would be me at a class of 2002.
Actually in all reality it should read class of 1986. What with that being my birth year and my first trip to Disney was when I was a month old. Actually, come to think of it, I think I was born on Disney property and they just say I was born in Orlando to throw me off.

Re: New Nametags?
It would be fine with me if it were to have been the year of my first Disney Park visit.IndyandMarion wrote:Actually in all reality it should read class of 1986. What with that being my birth year and my first trip to Disney was when I was a month old.
Class of 1958 sounds a whole lot more classy!
:grandpa: (Yeah, I'm old. Get over it. I had to.)
