i don't know that it's a rumor for sure, i do know that in may there will be a day where Disneyland is CLOSED to prepare for 50th type stuff. i forget everything i read but it's probably top secret anyway, sometimes a bad memory is a good thing. *note, i have not forgotten how to operate my attractions, or set of d-section at Fantasmic!, which i miss working quite a bit.

DL will be closed to guests May 4th. Haven't heard the 50 hr. thing. Oh, how fun this would be. Watch The Line!

50 HOURS

Post by screnwriter » Fri Jan 28, 2005 2:46 pm

Wouldn't be the first time. Back in '87, the park was open for SIXTY hours to celebrate the opening of Captain EO. Opened 10 AM Friday, closed 10 PM SUnday, open every minute in between. Musta cost a bundle to pay all those workers all those hours, but it was cool to drive down to Disneyland at 2 AM and then play for hours and hours. We lay down and slept during the Country Bear Jamboree, and the cast members accomodated us by not even giving the spiel and turning the sound WAY down. Very funny, but true.

If they were going to do the 50 hour thing, it'd be in July since that's when the actual birthday is, May 5th is just the kickoff for the 18 month celebration. I haven't heard these rumors, though, and it's my understanding that the last time they were open extended hours like that, it was a huge nightmare, so if I had to guess, I'd say it's just a rumor. But that's only if you're going to force me to guess. :princess:

We received an official notice from De Fuhrer Mouse about the closure of May 4th but the was nothing written about the extended hours. Just that it was operating on regular schedule. But we'll see. Disney is famous for last minute changes.

O wow... That'd suck for night custodial. From what one of my friends says, he HATE to pan and broom. But, then again, that's just my friend.

"I have a stupid question for you."

"Can I have a map?"

"Where is the restroom?"

"Do you work here?"

Barring last-minute changes (not uncommon for the fickle minds that run Disneyland these days), Disneyland is scheduled to be open from 0900-2300 on May 5th. Of course, if enough people hear the 50-hour rumor, that may be the wait time for Splash Mountain.

I foresee a lot of complaints about May 4th...Disneyland.com does not mention that the Park is closed that day...the hours are just blank. We all know guests better than that...if it's not spelled out for them, they won't understand (heck, even if you do spell it out, some still won't). Too bad the powers that be don't know the guests that well.

If I have offended, I apologize from the bottom of my admittedly hypothetical heart.

Too bad that the people that post the park hours on Disneyland.com don't have to deal with the guests. The whole 50 hour thing would be kinda cool if you got there opening, and was able to last all the way to closing, but for all the workers it would suck having your shifts all messed up. Also who knows if the attractions could take it. All of them would have at least one long 101.

i think autopia could probably survive, i know indy would eventually just auto-E, maintaince free refers to total rehab, i would schedule time periods for each acttraction to power down for about an hour then come back up, just to help reduce the risk of downtimes, or say at star tours, cycle the pods for a while. i dunno what the hell i'm talking about. remeber to make sure the door is locked is all i have to say.
