Even I have to admit that the Responsible Vendor Program has some kinks to work out. I can only sell one beer per ID... so I have to direct them to the gift shop where one ID buys them a six pack, and cheaper. But, I can still only sell you one. It's not because I don't like you, or don't want to... I just don't want to lose my job. Simple as that.
I've had many an argument about the Responsible Vendor Program. I had a man (British) come up to me *at midnight* with four beers.
Me: "I'm sorry sir, but I can only sell you one of those."
Him: (almost immediatly) "Bring me a manager."
--Fast forward to through the next 15 minutes of explaining the RVP--
Him: "Why can't you sell me more?"
Manager: "Because we need to prevent the sale of alcohol for minors."
Him: "You think I'm going to give this to a kid? That's a mockery of adulthood! Do you know I can walk into a pub and drink two of these and still drive home?"
Me: (I wish.) Welcome to America, sir.
Also,
Me: "I'm sorry sir, but I can only sell you one of those."
Him: "Oh, well they're over there in the corner."
Me: "I'm sorry, but they're going to have to come over here."
Him: "Fine. (Shouting to his wife and whoever else) You're going to have to come here! She's being obnoxious!"
Me: "Why thank you, sir."
Hmmm... Why don't I like being on cash?

I was at the Fish and Chip standat the UK Pavilon behind a guy who was being rude about this same thing....I ended up stepping in and helping her out.
