Now you can use your MagicBands after you get home from Walt Disney World!
BURBANK, CA — The Walt Disney Company has announced that beginning in Fall of 2019, you’ll be able to use your MagicBands outside of the Walt Disney World Resort, with the launch of a new service called MagicPay+™. This service is not only designed to compete with services such as Apple Pay and Android Pay, but will also act as a way to track rewards with participating retailers, and give you the ability to earn precious points on Disney’s Movie Rewards!

“This is a huge step in expanding our MagicBand capabilities. Starting in fall of 2019, you’ll be able to use your MagicBand to track your loyalty and reward points for a large list of retailers, which will be listed on the MagicPay+™ website. In addition to this service, and perhaps the biggest announcement, you will also be able to touch and pay for purchases using your MagicBand and the new MagicPay+™ service! Just link a credit card to your MagicBand using the MagicPay+™ app, and you’ll be shopping and tapping in no time!”
Disney is also working with the TSA and select airlines, such as American, Delta, United, Alaska, and Braniff, to allow electronic boarding passes to be scanned via your MagicBand. No more pulling out your phone or unfolding paper boarding passes, just tap and go!
Putting it through its paces
Disney (no relation) allowed us to demo MagicPay+™ while dining at Victoria & Alberts at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Your reporter simply tapped his MagicBand on the reader that the server brought over, entered in his pin that he selected at the time of check-in at the Resort, and just like that lunch was purchased! So easy, even a child can do it!
Disney (no relation) smiled, “That’s right, parents, you can even allow your children to use their MagicBands to pay for things. Just give them permissions, and soon they’ll be draining your bank account faster than college! There is a reason why we call them MagicBands, they are truly magical!”
