So "close" really does count. My math teachers lied to me then.

Just remember, for large values of 1, 1 approaches 2, for small values of 2.

And something about apothems, which I always thought was someone with a lisp talking about marsupials. You might be able to sympathize with that. (Not the lisp part)

Or more simply ... rounding errors .. 1.4 (rounds to 1) + 1.4 = 2.8 (rounds to 3) ... so .. 1 + 1 = 3

I was always bad at math. In fact, I got kicked out of math class when I was twelve.

We were doing fractions and the teacher says, "I want someone to divide 38/56 by 21/41. How about YOU!" pointing at me.

I started stammering and he says, "Think!"

"I'm trying to think." I replied.

"Okay, what is our common denominator?" he asked.

"Well," I replied, "We both lust after eleven-old girls."

or as we used to say, "close" only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, and atomic bombs. :canthearyou:

There was an old Frank and Ernest cartoon captioned (roughly):

In school I really enjoyed math, but I was terrible at it.
It was then I decided that liking math and being good at it were three entirely different things.

Remember, there are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't.

And remember, the reason so many programmers confuse Christmas and Halloween is that 31 OCT = 25 DEC.

If binary digits are bits,
And decimal digits are dits,
Imagine the fun
We'll have when we're done,
Playing with Trinary...

Oops. Never mind.
