Helmets and wrist guards to ice skate? Even on the adults? Never used those for ice skating.

The irony, the National Parks Service will let you hike all sorts of crazy places without any equipment or knowledge. It's at your own risk. And I'm sure if you need rescuing they send you the bill.

Sounds like Hawaii. A few years ago two clowns started publishing books for each of the islands that listed all sorts of stuff that normal guide books didn't cover. Problem is, a lot of their stuff requires trespassing, and takes people into areas that are not set up for tourists. That results in lots of helicopter extractions, etc.

Yesterday, for example, two tourists were plucked from their K-Mart raft over two miles from shore. They apparently didn't understand that the 23 MPH tradewinds could carry them all the way to Kiribati.

Close, but no cigar.

I work on the PassPorter Guide series. The Unauthorized Guides are from a different company.

Then again, a researcher for the UG came to my desk a couple of weeks ago and spent 45 minutes asking me questions, so I suppose I have to be considered a source for both books!

We'll see how the UG is about giving you credit. Well, at least as much credit as a fourth grader used to give an encyclopedia when I was a kid.

Those of you who spent most of your life in the 21st Century might wonder, "What's that?"

It's a small, young person who was born within the last eighteen or so years, who depends on an older person to take care of them.

I just want to tell you both, good luck. We're all counting on you.
