Google planning to retire iGoogle on 11/01/2013

Google announced on Tuesday that they are planning on retiring iGoogle in 16 months citing that web and mobile apps the need for it has eroded over time. This is bull as a lot of people don't own or use smart phones so mobile apps don't help them and while browser apps are good they can't be accessed on any computer no matter what OS or browser they are running.
The official thread on the Google Products forum is ablaze with thousands and thousands of people begging Google to reconsider. I've posted on there and have signed two petitions (here and here) linked from there asking Google to change their mind. I even wrote Google's corporate headquarters an actual letter about this.
I use iGoogle every single day, it is my homepage. With it I can access the weather, news, etc. all from one place and check them with a glance. Nothing else I know of (at least not from Google) comes close to replacing it. They're of course talking up Chrome and browser apps but a lot of people don't want to or can't use Chrome and want access to the information no matter where they are, only iGoogle can do that as it is web based, not browser based. One only has to log into Google and their personalized iGoogle page is available, it doesn't matter what OS or what browser they are running or where they are at.
If you use iGoogle I ask you to do your part to save it, post in the official thread, sign the petitions, write them a letter if you want. Google has made a stupid decision and we as Google users need to make sure they hear our voices saying "Keep iGoogle!"
If you want to send them a letter their snail-mail address is:
