I am pretty sure they were trying to beam me up last time I went into the scanner. Holy cow. Moment it turned on I got really, almost sickeningly dizzy. Couldn't shake it for at least an hour.

In the future, I choose to get felt up.

I've never gone through one, and I will refuse to do so in the future. When the TSA goon starts to tell me what the procedure is, I make it very clear that if he touches my scrotum (if I'm annoyed, I'll use nuts/balls/etc.), there will be problems. Then continue to tell him to get on with it, I know the spiel, and then when they ask if I have any sensitive areas, I say scrotum (or the others), and then get on with it.

If you do opt-out, and I suggest everyone does, remember a few key things. 1) As retaliation, they will try to make you wait giving you some excuses like they don't have enough staff. If they do make you wait behind the scanners, make sure you can see your stuff, and if you can't tell them you can't and demand that they move you. I don't worry about the other passengers going through my stuff, I worry about TSA going through my stuff. 2) After they take you back and gather your belongings, make them change their gloves. If they said they just did, tell them you did not see them do it and make them do it again. After they violate you, they will test the gloves and you don't want a false positive because the TSA goon lied and didn't change his gloves.

I did recently join Global Entry and the Trusted Traveler Program, and when traveling through the airports that are currently participating, you might get selected to by-pass the intrusive security and do it pre-911 style. On a recent trip, I think our AP preview trip to DLR, the goon asked if I had done this before, and I almost said "Yeah, before the TSA was formed and started violating the traveling public." I bit my lip and just said, yes, I was familiar with the process.

Oh, if you're taking a laptop, I suggest getting a "TSA approved" bag that opens up so you don't have to take our your laptop for all to see. It also makes getting through security a little faster.

That was my first thought, but on second though he likes to be in control, too. And he's a tad vain. My theory: if he'd known his underwear was going to be showing, he'd have worn a different pair, and had a quip or other way of evening the score. ;)

I think the control observation is spot on. There's a big difference between playing the fool and being made the fool. When you make fun of yourself, you are really expecting people to realize that and actually think better of you.
